Seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented, senior software engineer with a concentration in machine learning to join our team in Sterling, VA .
You will be a member of the team supporting the Land Border Integration (LBI) program for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program. The position will be supporting various border security efforts of CBP and includes biometric technologies such as facial recognition, RFID enabled documents, license plate reading technologies, data analytics, IoT, and other border security technologies.

Seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented, senior software engineer with a concentration in machine learning to join our team in Sterling, VA .
You will be a member of the team supporting the Land Border Integration (LBI) program for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program. The position will be supporting various border security efforts of CBP and includes biometric technologies such as facial recognition, RFID enabled documents, license plate reading technologies, data analytics, IoT, and other border security technologies.

Responsibilities:
- An active member of a team participating in the daily stand-ups.
- Apply development expertise towards solving complex problems through the application of AI/ML, such as training models used in the identification of license plates.
- Collaborate and provide expertise in the design and development of AI/ML based solutions.
- Where applicable, support integration of AI/ML solutions through containerizing, client interface, database and middleware.
- Familiar with build pipelines.
- Document all AI/ML software designs, which may include context diagrams, data flow diagrams, software module descriptions, etc.
- Provide Tier 3 / 4 engineering support, as needed, for solutions deployed to production
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a directly related field is required
(4 years' experience in lieu of degree) - 9+ years of experience with a strong background in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Experience with AI/ML is a must with implementations using languages such as .NET and Python or Java.
- Familiar with AI/ML tooling, useful models and frameworks, and the ability to share knowledge across teams.
- Experience at model training, implementation and deployment.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Public Trust.
- Model training techniques with knowledge of learning algorithms, tooling and applications.
- Practical experience in image processing, OpenCV and CNN/DNN based training.
- Experience developing in languages such as R, C++, C#, Python.
- Excellent troubleshooting and resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in team environments across a diverse set of projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and a delivery mindset.
- Agile development.
- Jenkins, Jira, Confluence
- PowerShell, Python and/or Bash
- Windows and Linux experience
- Git, Git Tools, including GitLab
- Docker experience
- No SQL, PostgreSQL or other relational
- Jenkins build pipeline with SonarQube
- JSON and YAML
- Node.js / NPM / Yarn
- HTTP(S) stack
- RESTFul HTTP Programming
- Multi-threaded applications and exception handling
- AWS experience
