Job Description

We are seeking an IT Field Technician to join our team to provide on-site support for our clients.

POSITION TITLE: Field Technician

REPORTS TO: President / CEO

SUMMARY

The Field Technician provides:

  • Onsite support in or near the following cities: Mokena, Channahon, Bourbonnais, Braidwood, Plano and Plainfield.
  • In person, basic and advanced workstation, software and peripherals setup and maintenance to customers and staff.
  • Some onsite network and server maintenance and support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide onsite / in person customer support
  • Supports work for both basic and advanced workstation software and peripherals
  • Create and maintain documentation of hardware/software, processes and other related information
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform workstation updates, improvements, upgrades, and repairs
  • Administer and manage workstation security solutions
  • Maintain and troubleshoot network connectivity
  • Maintain and migrate file server and print server
  • Setup and maintain network accounts including profiles (roaming or mandatory), login scripts, and security policies
  • Maintain server-based management software (Smart Shield, Deep Freeze, Reservations system)
  • Maintain network management software (Antivirus, Backup)
  • Works with technical team to ensure that hardware and software infrastructure is maintained with latest firmware and software requirements
  • Proactively communicate the status, plan of action(s), and resolution(s) of issues
  • Routine administration of security patching for end user systems
  • Proactively keeps abreast of all new technologies by seeking out and researching opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills on computer related peripherals and products
  • Assists in delivering the level of training required to ensure the highest level of understanding when showing employees or customers how to utilize hardware and software applications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Must possess the educational background, either formal or experiential, equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Technology.

Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge and skills related to current Windows workstation (Windows 10)
  • Windows server (Server 2019) installation and maintenance a plus.
  • Linux workstation and server installation and maintenance a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of four years’ experience installing and supporting: Windows 10 Professional.
  • Must possess great time management skills.
  • Must be driven to do the project accurately, consistently and not just meet, but exceed, the customer’s expectations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, solve issues and be willing to quickly learn and adapt to new concepts.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as ability to express complex concepts and technical matters clearly and concisely in both oral and written formats.

Requirements

  • Must have a reliable vehicle, vehicle insurance, and valid driver’s license.
  • Availability to work a minimum of two nights and one weekend per month.
