Job Title: Vice President, People Practices- New York, NYDepartment: People PracticesSupervisor: SVP, Chief People Officer   ROLE SUMMARY:  The Vice President, People Practices is responsible for ensuring the effective performance of people practices efforts for the company’s corporate office as well as venues in a designated geographic area. This role will be responsible for department operational execution, strategic partnerships to designated corporate and venue leaders, while also serving as the project lead for a company-wide HR technology implementation. This role will also contribute as a member of the People Practices Leadership Team on the execution of Tao Group Hospitality people strategies. These strategies encompass a broad range of areas including but not limited to benefits, business administration, compliance, HR technology, performance management, talent acquisition and development, and team member engagement initiatives.  Specific Functions/Activities SUMMARY:   
  • Lead the people practices efforts for Tao Group Hospitality in the New York, Chicago, and other designated markets under the direction of the Chief People Officer. 
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner and source of credible sound advice and counsel to all functional areas within the corporate office and venues.
  • Consistently display subject matter expertise, business acumen and financial knowledge in stakeholder partnership efforts. 
  • Collaborate with corporate office and venue leaders to drive and execute upon various initiatives related to creating and sustaining a performance driven and people-focused work culture.
  • Partner with other department leaders as needed to support initiatives in people practices, compliance, communications, engagement, performance management, talent acquisition, training, and systems optimization.
  • Drive team member relations practices in partnership with corporate office and field leaders necessary to maintain a positive team member/company relationship and promote high levels of team member satisfaction. 
  • Manage and resolve complex Team Member relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations when necessary. 
  • Facilitate the resolution of work-related conflicts between team members, supervisors, and department heads.
  • Act as internal project leader for Tao Group Hospitality’s HR technology implementation initiative. 
  • Ensure the technology implementation is completed in accordance with company goals and expectations. 
  • Oversee leaders in the areas of people practices, HR technology and benefits administration in effort to drive business value and optimize the team member employment experience. 
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements, reducing risk and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the Chief People Office and legal stakeholder on related compliance projects as needed.
  • Provide human resources policy guidance and interpretation to all levels of the organization.
  • Conduct exit interviews for senior leaders, monitor company turnover trends and communicate critical feedback to leaders as needed.
  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of people practices division meetings.
  • Completes other duties and projects as assigned by the Chief People Officer.

Required:

  • Ability to collaborate, partner and influence client stakeholder strategies as needed.
  • Demonstrate commercially focused and client service acumen in providing people practices services to stakeholder populations. 
  • Ability to deal effectively with all stakeholders with tact and diplomacy, to collect accurate information and resolve conflicts. 
  • Demonstrable ability to work in a modern HR technology system platforms and leverage data to achieve business results. 
  • Thorough knowledge of people practices and procedures as well as considerable knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws and regulations pertaining to team member matters. 
  • Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals. 
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to prepare office memorandum and correspondence as well as provide clear and meaningful instructions, guidance and counseling to leaders and team members. 
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines. 
  • Command of the English language both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to travel for project purposes as needed. 
  • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs.
 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Education:  Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a Human Resources, Business Management, Communications, or related discipline. MBA or advanced degree preferred. 
  • Experience:  Minimum of 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience. Preferably in a corporate or hospitality/service-focused environment. 
  • Licenses or Certificates:  SPHR or SHRM-SCP preferred
