Job Summary

The duties of the Facilities Manager will be to manage daily (monthly, quarterly, or annually) maintenance activities while collaborating with facilities members and cross-functionally with engineers, IT and operational colleagues to support the Tanzle's facility needs. Having hands-on knowledge of facilities operations in a complex, highly technical, start-up environment will be necessary. The Facilities Manager will be expected to have excellent time management skills, and proactively manage their day-to-day activities.


Facilities Operations:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of facilities activities to ensure smooth overall operations, including delegation or completion maintenance requests
  • Respond to problems and/or emergencies that may occur outside of standard business hours (i.e. floods, broken pipe, HVAC problems, power outages, etc).
  • Support the Director of Facilities with the management of facilities and successfully support the growing team: building, grounds, systems, etc.
  • Support the Director of Facilities with project management tasks

  • Proactively maintain building protocols to support ongoing changes to weather conditions.
  • Prepare necessary reports identifying maintenance, repairs, safety and other occurrences for the Director of Facilities and other staff.
  • Support with safety inspections and/or coordinate safety programs to ensure we maintain a safe work environment for employees (whether on-site or remote).
  • Manage scheduled inspections coordinated with designated vendors or agencies.
  • Maintain awareness of health protocols as they relate to employees and facilities, particularly mold and viruses, such as COVID-19.
  • Monitor the cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, and outdoor spaces
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours and be available for after hours support

  • Assist our cross-functional internal security and compliance stakeholders to implement processes and technology
  • Maintain documentation of project status, open maintenance issues, and other activities as necessary
  • Maintain an open line of communication with the Facilities team to ensure compliance measures and met and other departmental duties are prioritized accordingly.
  • Understand and manage facilities aspects of high tech companies, such as Tanzle, and their systems (building power, data center power, emergency backup power requirements, etc.)


  • Associate's Degree in engineering, technology, architecture, or minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in facilities for a tech, startup company
  • Independently (and proactively) manage the facilities functions with minimal to no supervision or direction
  • Deep understanding of the facilities function (and "gotchas") with many lessons learned
  • Experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC and general building maintenance
  • Experience and knowledge in computers and networks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortably communicates with all levels of management
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Knowledgeable in space planning and new office build-outs
  • Knowledge in Facilities industry trends to be able to make necessary recommendations
  • High-level understanding of construction projects from inception to buildout to maintenance
  • Ability to maintain a culture of service excellence
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Availability for after hours/on-call support
