Responsibilities
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the technical availability of the machines, equipment and tools. They organize Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), coordinate the preventative maintenance and servicing of all machines, tools and devices. They are responsible for conducting and checking all of the measures required for safe and reliable operation. They ensure adherence to all legal and company internal specifications and stipulations for their specialist area. They manage their employees according to company principals/guidelines and align their department according to the RPS structure/specifications.
Main Tasks:
- Perform maintenance tasks such as interfacing with the process control team and react to urgent requests that could impact production. Prioritize maintenance requests; distribute daily job assignments, review maintenance logs daily supervisory responsibilities of the maintenance team
- Coordinate activities of contractors performing work on-site within the plant
- Conduct daily physical audits of key equipment
- Develop maintenance procedures compliant with all health, safety and environmental regulatory guidelines of local, state and federal agencies
- Record trend analysis on plant equipment, identifying high maintenance items, determining cause of equipment failures through defect analysis
- Lead continuous improvement activities of the plant maintenance team for reducing maintenance downtime and optimize the statistical capability of process equipment monitored by process control teams
- Ensure that all accidents are properly reported and accident investigations are completed within 24 hours
- Establish, communicate and monitor performance targets for all direct reports
- Plan and maintain staffing levels per monthly and annual forecast
- Achieve uptime targets for all significant equipment in the facility
- Support all EHS activities
- Compliance with all applicable corporate policies and legislation
- Achieve forecasted profitability and efficiency targets determined together with the plant management
- Apply lean manufacturing principles and RPS2 including Kaizen, 5S, standardization, visual controls, waste elimination and effective problem solving
Important Individual Tasks
- Knowledge of extrusion process
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing programs
- Establish, implement and maintain a maintenance budget for expendable items and outside contracted services for the whole facility. Work toward reducing maintenance costs on an annual basis
- Support plant in all critical situations
- Keeping up to date on latest processing technology & investing if a particular new process may be beneficial to the company
- Continued reporting on projects according to company rules and specific timelines established
Workshop:
- Involvement in external inspections (VdC, TUV, DEKRA...) according to the internal and external specifications
- Commissioning and supervising services and third party companies
- Assumes defined tasks for supplying utilities to the plant (electricity, gas, water, compressed air, etc.)
- Involvement in procurement and provision of spare parts to deadline and cost
- Involvement in the technical and commercial preparation and completion of transfers of machines, equipment and tools
- Proper maintenance of tools, machines and equipment, including storage
- Improving the competitiveness (SPEM)
- Responsible for establishing maintenance intervals (preventative maintenance)
- Definition of TPM measures and checking the implementation
- Cost responsibility for the department that reports to them.
Safety:
- Monitoring, maintenance and servicing of equipment relevant for safety
- Specialist advice regarding the fulfillment of the safety specifications for machines and equipment in the entire plants, such as adherence to the stipulations of the CE guidelines and the regulation of industrial safety
- Providing specialist advice to line managers and safety representatives for the risk assessment and checking of existing, changed, and newly purchased work equipment regarding safety
- Rectifying or arranging the rectification of unsafe conditions
- Ensuring the existence of valid risk assessments for all work stations in their department
- Adherence to the valid standards and technology rules for their specialist area
Requirements
Qualifications
- Electrical and mechanical knowledge
- Prefer degree in technical discipline
- Specific knowledge of the following systems preferred:
- A/B RS Logix and RS Logix 5000 programming software
- Siemens S5 and S7 programming software
- Strong PC systems skills (Word, Excel, RAUINST, SAP)
- Mechanical, pneumatic and electrical experience
