Job Description

Talent Corps is seeking an experienced Controller in the Sterling, VA area. Our client is a commercial Utility Service company.  This role will be responsible for the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial tasks and overseeing budgeting and accounting. This position is a direct-hire position, and our client is eager to hire for this role.

Salary: $110k - $135k depending on experience

Job Scope

  • Responsible for managing all financial tasks.
  • Responsible for overseeing budgeting and accounting.
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements/reports that are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Responsible for compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for all statutory requirements of the organization are met including licensures, withholding payments, income tax, and goods and services tax.
  • Prepare all supporting information for authorized groups such as wage and hour project management and wage scale jobs.
  • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control.
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts and manage cash flow.
  • Manage cash flow and produce forecasts in accordance with predicted and known job flow.
  • Manage the bookkeeping function, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures as required to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure. 

Required Experience

  • Min 5 years of Controller experience or related accounting or finance leadership role. Work in the construction industry is a plus!
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to project manage and collaborate with other teams.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • General accepted accounting principles (GAAP) knowledge.
