The Reality Labs (RL) Research Team brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of AR and VR, which together will become as universal and essential as smartphones and personal computers are today. RL Research is looking for the next generation of scientists and engineers to tackle the most ambitious problems in wearable computing.
As a Technical Project Manager (TPM) on this team, you will work with a team of talented engineers, data scientists, and other cross-functional team members to build the systems that our teams rely on each day. We are looking for an experienced technical leader who can support complex systems at a large scale, while maintaining clarity of vision and organizational awareness. You’ll commit to developing the roadmap with your engineering and cross-functional counterparts, ensuring that we have enough capacity for the next 6-12 months, and breaking down product requirements into engineering milestones. You are a leader on the team who can drive system architectural discussions and make future-proof decisions that align with product strategy and vision.
Work with the Software Engineering team to build the systems we need for computing, data storage, and more
Review and create project plans to plan and coordinate project activity.
Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others, to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
Evaluate data processing proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements.
5+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, hardware engineering, or technical product/program management experience.
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of software engineering principles, software infrastructure, building a computer cluster.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.
Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope.
Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership.
Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products.
Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.
Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones.
Experience with Machine Learning Infrastructure.
Experience building large-scale systems and services.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required. MBA, M.S./Ph.D. in Comp Science/Engineering, or other related advanced degree preferred.
