MU Operator

The MU Operator is responsible for safely operating machines efficiently as possible to produce first quality carpets. This role will encompass multiple aspects of the process including, preparation, finishing, tufting, mending, quality inspections, packaging and machine maintenance.
Job Duties
• Primary backing preparation
• Operate machinery and equipment according to instructions
• Material selection and Inventory Control
• Machine / Equipment Set Up, both manual and computer inputs
• Equipment inspection during operation and periodic maintenance and adjustments
• Identify Tufting issues and address accordingly, mending is a key component of the day-to-day operations
• Application of Latex and Latex backing
• Shearing by both machine and hand
• Quality inspections during all aspects of the process, including photo documentation
• Packaging and handling finished goods
• Other tasks assigned as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Understanding of Industrial Safety Practices
• Hands on machine operation skills
• Ability to identify differences in equipment settings and running performance
• Mechanically inclined to perform basic equipment maintenance
• Capable of giving detailed feedback in all aspects of the production process
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Keen attention to detail with ability to identify maintenance, product or operational issues
• Effective comprehension, active listing, speaking and writing skills
• Previous machine operator or other related experience preferred
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment
• Excellent housekeeping skills
Experience & Education
• 2 – 3 years carpet industry working experience
• Tufting experience preferred
• Mending experience preferred
• 2 years machine operator experience preferred
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
• Must be able to primarily stand for a minimum of 12 hours a day
• Must be able to be in physically demanding positions for long periods of time
• Must be able to work on elevated platforms
• Must be able to work with latex
• Must be able to work with and around production equipment
