Job Description
This position is responsible for actively participating in the rate development process for the company and its Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs). This includes assisting in the Medicare bid development process, developing Medicare financial forecasts, and serving as one of the financial representatives on the Medicare team. Additionally, the position supports the Rate Development Manager throughout the Medicaid Rate Cycle, including providing analysis of rates, trends, and spending components.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the rate development process for the company and its CCOs.
- Support the Manager's work with the CCOs and the Metro integrated community network to communicate rate updates and their implications.
- Support the work of the internal behavioral health, dental, and NEMT leaders, and other external related organizations.
- Support the work with actuaries and the State's Office of Actuarial and Financial Analytics team to ensure fair rates.
- Serve as a resource for the company, its CCOs and the State's Office of Actuarial and Financial Analytics.
- Work closely with Health Share of Oregon CCO's staff and external actuaries to ensure fair rates for the company and all Health Share of Oregon CCO partners.
- Work closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis team and other Finance and actuarial staff to ensure rate updates are communicated timely.
- Hand-off rates information to the Information Services department for 820 programming
- Forecast Medicaid membership for each of the company CCO's.
- Develop the Medicare administrative bid components.
- Prepare periodic Medicare financial forecasts and advise management on its implications
- Serve as one of the financial representatives on the Medicare team.
- Assist in the reinsurance processes and RFPs as needed.
- Prepare reports, updates and presentations as requested.
Experience and/or Education
- Minimum 2 years' financial analysis experience
Preferred
- Rate development experience in Healthcare, Medicare and Medicaid
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Basic understanding of medical costs and trends
- Understanding of the Medicaid and Medicare business
- Growing modeling skills and strong mathematical skills utilizing software such as Excel, Axiom, etc.
- Intermediate spreadsheet and data analysis skills
- Intermediate word processing skills
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders
