Position Description: The Knowledge and Information Managment Specialist/Project Manager is a full-time exempt, primarily telework/remote position, with 1-2 days on-site weekly, required. This position provides analytical and support services to a Department of Defense (DoD) customer located in the Pentagon, for planning and execution of strategic priorities, management of institutional policy to align with knowledge and information management. The candidate will assist the customer and our staff in the design and implementation of SharePoint applications and tools that enable governance, knowledge management and integration of program objectives in support of policies, processes, and directives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Design and maintain an effective Knowledge Management System that aligns the customers practices to an enterprise-wide knowledge management strategy
  • Work with leadership to develop and implement a Knowledge Management policy, procedures, and tools
  • Assess and report on the use and effectiveness of Enterprise Knowledge Management tools
  • When necessary, develop content for capture, storage, validation, and retrieval of information both within and outside of the organization
  • Analyze internal and external information and provide recommendations for process improvement
  • Assist the customer in organizing and archiving of institutional knowledge
  • Support the planning, design, development, and sustainment in coordination with the government and other team members of SharePoint applications
  • Identify required content/data and recommend/establish data calls and procedures to facilitate the collection of content and data in support of the Knowledge Management plan
  • Support Knowledge Management program integration efforts by performing gap analysis
  • Generate data governance plans and policies in support of SharePoint applications and other on-going activities
  • Lead or support meetings, conferences, and workshops, including but not limited to Scenario Development Workshops (SDW), Technical Working Groups (TWG), Interim Progress Reviews (IPRs), Integrated Product Team (IPT) and Operational Planning Team (OPT)
  • Direct overall staff activities via requirements gathering from the government action officers to include internal corporate policies, procedures, and operational standards
  • Generate Monthly Status Reports (MSR) via coordination with staff members

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Must have and maintain an active DoD Security Clearance (SECRET)
  • Certified Knowledge Manager Certification preferred
  • Five (5) years’ experience in Information and Knowledge Management
  • Five (5) years’ experience in content management and process improvement
  • Must be highly organized and have excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation), along with the ability to interpret client requirements
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with a team
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail; requirements gathering
  • Must exhibit an independent interest in the use of emerging technologies, tools, and professional development

Required Education:

  • B.A./B.S. in a related field from an accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Project Management Professional Certification
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in Information and Knowledge Management
  • Eight (8) years’ experience managing content and providing process improvement

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment: mostly telework, minimum one -two days a week in the Pentagon
  • Fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • May require periods of non-traditional working hours
