Reporting to the Head of Business Solutions Delivery, Change Management, the Senior Programmer Analyst will be responsible to define solutions to meet the business requirements identified by users from different business units and to develop user-friendly and efficient applications while complying with auditing and security standards. He or she will also need to determine the best programming language (MATLAB, VBA) to address the specific business needs. The Senior Programmer Analyst will diagram and document the new applications, prepare user manuals and carry out related tasks. He or she will also support existing applications.
Develops applications in an iterative and agile mode of delivery to meet user needs and taking into consideration auditing and security standards.
Defines application architecture,drafts preliminary analyses and detailed functional specifications for new applications.
Coordinates the development cycle with other developers on the team.
Designs and develops user-friendly, efficient applications for users by leveraging the inherent functionalities of MATLAB and/or by using other programming languages such as Visual Basic or other utilities.
Determines which tasks need to be accomplished and prepares a schedule for the various stages of the development cycle.
Performs quality controls on new applications by performing functional tests prior to delivery.
Helps develop application test strategies and develops the tools needed to simplify user testing.
Updates application documentation for users.
Is responsible for the quality of new solutions and their successful implementation, ensuring that internal project delivery standards are met.
Skills and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics or Masters degree in Financial Engineering or equivalent experience
Two to five years of advanced programming experience in MATLAB
Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access, Word and/or Google in the workplace
Bilingual (English and French, oral and written)
Ability to diagram and conceptualize business needs
Ability to convert user needs into efficient technological solutions
Ability to produce concept sketches
Analytical and creative approach to finding efficient solutions
Ability to decode existing programs and edit them as required
Prior experience in a collaborative work environment
Reliable and results-oriented, with an attention to detail
Organization skills and ability to manage priorities
Nice to have(s):
Knowledge of programming in VBA and SQL
Understanding of the financial markets and derivatives markets
Knowledge of financial risk management
Knowledge of diagram applications such as Lucidcharts
