Financial Analyst

This position can a remote or hybrid position.


Overview:

Newly created, critical role for a growing organization. Serves as a strategic partner to the business development, commercial and supply chain teams to ensure tactical execution of pricing strategies and provide analytical support for margin fluctuations. Monitors dynamic input costs to ensure optimal pricing decisions. Ability to work with complex datasets and interpret the data to provide strategic recommendations. Communicates pricing changes and updates relevant parties in a timely manner. Provides relevant recommendations on pricing trends and margin fluctuations. Assists in the development, and tracking of, pricing strategies. Continuous improvement mindset necessary to enhance current processes and drive profitability in a volatile market.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Point person for maintenance of pricing database and commodity price management
  • Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely supplier price updates are made in the system
  • Facilitate price / cost reviews with the procurement and commercial teams
  • Strategic partner to the Finance team providing timely communication of commodity price changes for budgeting and forecasting purposes
  • Recommend pricing changes to the business development and commercial teams
  • Monitor key commodity indices and forecasted changes in prices
  • Perform analyses on price elasticity of product portfolio
  • Develop strong cross-functional relationships for rapid communication of pricing updates
  • Identify and track KPIs to demonstrate the important indicators that pricing decisions have on profitability
  • Analyze changes in cost/price/margins and provide recommendations to enhance profitability
  • Ad hoc Financial Analysis


Qualifications:

  • Analytical and process improvement mindset
  • Advanced Excel skills – pivot tables, v-lookups, arrays, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with organizing and managing large, dynamic datasets and providing analytical recommendations based on interpretation of the data
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Identify and track KPIs to demonstrate the important indicators that pricing decisions have on profitability
  • Ability to identify price/cost misalignment and provide recommendations to fix
  • SQL database experience a plus
  • Familiarity with the chemical distribution industry preferred

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Marketing / Economics / Business
  • 2+ years overall experience
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively
