Job description:The Early Learning Associate Teacher under the direction of the Early Learning Master Teacher, assists the Master Teacher with planning and implementing a variety of activities to meet the educational needs of preschool-aged children; provides instruction to individuals and small groups in the Early Learning Program and helps with the preparation of instructional materials.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize and implement the program for preschool-aged children in accordance with approved curriculum, applicable policies and philosophy of Think Together.
  • Maintain active supervision on all children in activities, while in the classroom and on the playground, and during meal time.
  • Assist with planning, preparing and implementing a variety of activities to meet the needs of preschool-aged children.
  • Direct group activities with students as assigned.
  • Maintain a positive, nurturing environment, which respects culture and diversity.
  • Participate with children and encourage their involvement in activities.
  • Observe and redirect student behavior according to approved procedures.
  • Set up and cleanup work areas and eating areas.
  • Operate audio-visual equipment.
  • Assist children with hand washing toileting, and changing those who have toileting accidents; as well as supporting children in developing self-help skills.
  • Assist with preparing instructional materials as directed by the Master Teacher.
  • Assist children in developing language skills.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, engaging learning environment.
  • Support children in making a positive transition from home to preschool.
  • Communicate materials needs to Master Teacher.
  • Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Perform related tasks as required.

Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • TB Clearance (within the last year)
  • Proof of Immunization against Measles (MMR), Pertussis (Tdap), and Influenza. 
  • Must pass Think Together Live Scan
  • Must pass Community Care Licensing Criminal Record Background Clearance, DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse Central Index.
  • Provide Current Health Screening Report (LIC 503).
  • Certificate of Mandated reporting for Child Care Providers (AB1207).
  • 16 Hour Health and Safety Training for Child Care Providers Certification preferred
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Associate Teacher Permit is preferred. (Think Together will help in attaining Associate Teacher Permit  if needed for qualified candidate)
  • Completion of 12 units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. (Child Growth and Development[3units]; Child, Family and Community[3units]; Principles and Practices [3units];Observations and Assessment[3units]; Teaching in a Diverse Society[3units])
  • Prior experience working with preschool aged children is desirable.
