Job Description

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Works to promote The Lighthouse and its mission and engage the broader community in its programs and services. This role would be responsible for developing, managing and executing The Lighthouse's communication and marketing strategies through digital platforms and other communications channels. The Digital Communications Manager would also have responsibility for collaborative strategy and content development to support communications, marketing and fundraising strategies.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Developing online communication, marketing and content strategies to engage, inform and activate audiences;
  • Creating and managing digital content across a variety of different platforms including websites, social media accounts, blogs, email newsletter, etc., to create compelling content that engages audience and drives business goals;
  • Identify and develop content including client success stories, newsletter articles, press releases, videos, infographics and web graphics;
  • Building and launching online customer and donor acquisition strategies;
  • Establishing communication goals and objectives for each campaign, including identifying target audiences and determining outreach methods;
  • Developing creative concepts and copy for digital marketing campaigns working with internal graphic design team;
  • Creating an online presence through social media channels such as but not limited to Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of online campaigns using metrics such as click through rates and conversion rates;
  • Providing copywriting and editing support for event, marketing, and advancement initiatives;
  • Enhancing visual storytelling by creating long-form (1 - 2 minute) and short-form videos (<30 seconds) for social media, YouTube, and other channels to build online engagement and thought leadership initiatives;
  • Providing strategic input and messaging strategy to visual storytellers (videographers, photographers) on internal and external video creation;
  • Managing The Chicago Lighthouse brand's online presence.


SPECIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field;
  • 3-5 years relevant experience managing online campaigns for social service agency, mid-sized company or other organization;
  • Knowledge of SEO, ROI, web-related data analysis and other metrics to evaluate campaign reach and effectiveness;
  • Experience developing communication and marketing plans;
  • Knowledge of digital trends and strategies;
  • Understanding of KPI to track and measure effectiveness of communications and marketing strategies;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly;
  • Proficiency in technology and digital tools;
  • Knowledge of Word Press, Sprout Social, and basic video-editing software. Familiarity with content management systems is a plus;
