Job Description

Our client is a leading and trusted provider of pioneering medical technology such as implant systems, injectors, and other medical devices. This European company maintains a strong global reach with subsidiaries in Europe and North America and a vast network of distribution and sales partners in more than 80 countries across five continents.  

Our client is actively seeking a hands-on, dynamic, and sales-focused executive to assume the role of Chief Operating Officer with an eventual path to the position of CEO. The new COO will be instrumental in guiding the company’s organizational growth and business transformation, while leveraging a century of experience and stellar global reputation in the field of medical technology.  

The location for this role is Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth area). 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership and vision to the US organization. 
  • Actively manage the U.S. subsidiary’s P&L and provide guidance and leadership to the US team.  
  • Review the company’s internal business operations; set clearly defined short- and long-term goals for the internal development of the organization and develop action plans to meet these goals. 
  • Prepare annual business operating plans and budgets. 
  • Review current sales and market development plans and strategies and make amendments as needed. 
  • Work closely with the Sales team in cultivating customer relationships to assess and identify new business opportunities and drive them to a successful close.  
  • Support the introduction of two new product lines. 
  • Ensure that the FDA regulations are complied with. 
  • Ensure that the new sales agreement with a large brand (with a significant footprint) meets their expectations in terms of reporting and communication.   
  • Responsible for the introduction of a new, robust CRM system with solid data entry on the front end and detailed reporting capabilities to the headquarters. 
  • Serve as an agent for business improvements, new initiatives, policies, and processes.  
  • Coordinate proper company resources, and review, update and formulate all sales policies, practices, and procedures within the company. 
  • Forecast cash-flow streams and requirements on a regular basis. Review sales results and take corrective action where required. 
  • Constantly evaluate the market situation, industry trends, technology trends and competition within the medical technology market. 
  • Interface regularly with the Company headquarters and closely cooperate in corporate discussions. 
  • Represent the organization in important external business relationships with major clients, joint venture partners and the public.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Key qualifications: 

  • Several years of leadership experience in sales and business development, with substantial experience in general management.  
  • Strong background or experience within the medical technology industry is required for this role. 
  • Direct sales experience on medical devices (or similar products) being sold to medical practitioners is strongly preferred. 
  • Particular background or sales experience on spinal systems and/or contrast media injectors would be beneficial 
  • Strong background of FDA and other health product regulations is highly preferred.  
  • Proven track record managing a business unit, group, or company with P&L responsibility, ideally within a small- to medium-sized sales organization.

  • An existing network of industry contacts in relevant industries is highly desirable. 
  • Global perspective and awareness, experience working in an international environment would be an advantage.
