Electrical Mechanical Engineer

Job Description: To support the Plant Engineer in growth and improvement projects for our western operations. Scope: Vernon facility. May help other plants as needed. Key Responsibilities: List (in order of importance) the critical responsibilities of this position. Do not include any responsibility comprising less than 5% of the total responsibilities of the position. Follows all OSHA safety rules, GMPs, and food safety guidelines and regulations. Works independently on multidisciplinary design of food processing and manufacturing systems and processes that yield verifiable cost, efficiency and/or capacity improvements. Manages multiple capital projects ensuring budget, schedule and performance expectations are meet. Proactively identifies problems and provides affective solutions. Develops and implements procedures and processes that yield improved equipment and operational efficiency. Subject Matter Expert and coordinator for select equipment and processes. Serves as a technical resource for other departments. Directs the work of maintenance staff and contractors to accomplish objectives. Create and edit drawings and designs using ACAD and SolidWorks. Education and training: BS Mechanical Engineering preferred, bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline considered. 2. Job-related experience: Minimum 5 years’ engineering and project management in a manufacturing setting, food industry profred. Hands-on mechanical/electrical experience. Student project experience will be considered. 3. Managerial experience: N/A 4. Technical knowledge and skills: Effective reasoning, logic, and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and mechanical design. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities, effective time management. Knowledge of drafting principles and standards. ACAD, SolidWorks is beneficial. Understanding of electrical power distribution, industrial controls and plant mechanical systems including: boilers, compressors, piping and ventilation. PC, telephone, calculator digital millimeter, various electronic devices and instruments. MS Office, Project and other Windows and DOS based applications. Able to operate laptop computer and Allen-Bradley and other software packages for interfacing with plant equipment. Ability to walk, sit and stand for several hours, ability to climb stair and ladders, ability to lift 60 lbs. Electrical and/or process control aptitude or experience is strongly preferred.
