The Outbound Sales Specialist will successfully promote, sell and for specific product types, refer TCF products as well as services in a way that meets both the customer's financial needs and customer service expectations. Answer inquiries and present product options, features and benefits for checking, savings, time accounts and other banking related loan or credit products.  Initiate/open new accounts and/or complete product applications while providing appropriate information/disclosures to ensure consistency in compliance/regulatory policies and identification guidelines. Accurately process, closely verify, and promptly document all key customer information and preferences in a manner, which maintains TCF's high level of performance standards and customer service orientation.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Solicits customer interest in new TCF products and services. Cross-sells TCF products such as consumer/small business checking and savings, time accounts, credit cards, mortgage and auto loans as well as other complementary or alternative product offerings.  Also promotes TCF services such as direct deposit, online banking, mobile banking and bill pay. Meets targeted cross-sell/product and service referral goals.
  • Handles product or service inbound phone inquiries driven by marketing as well as customer direct new product information requests. Promotes and responds to inquiries on retail products, services, and related features, benefits, and fee or product parameters, including rate information, product restrictions and basic qualification guidelines.    
  • Accepts phone referrals from Contact Center service agents transferring customers expressing interest in opening/applying for new products.  Conducts full needs assessment to understand the customer's current and future financial needs.  Makes additional product recommendations to support the customer's financial goals.
  • Proactively reaches out and follows up with customers who have previously expressed interest in a product or service.  Conducts outbound campaigns to existing customers to establish deeper relationships and ensure banking related needs are being met.
  • Initiates/opens new accounts and/or completes product applications while providing appropriate information/disclosures to ensure consistency in compliance/regulatory policies and identification guidelines. Consults with customers on specific account type needs; conveys and confirms rate and service charge information and product restrictions. Accurately processes, closely verifies, and promptly documents all key customer information and preferences for new accounts/product applications.
  • Assists with current customer telemarketing and direct mail cross-sell programs/campaigns as assigned.
  • Strictly adheres to all established policies and regulations for telephone sales; including outbound calling and new account disclosures
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 12 months experience in sales or customer service related role
  • Must successfully complete technical training and pass test standards
  • Basic knowledge of financial products and services
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven sales record or strong interest in sales
  • Strong PC skills
  • Ongoing employment is contingent on meeting any required product certification requirements
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous banking/financial industry experience
  • Previous contact center sales experience
