Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer or Staff Engineer Mechanical to support our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Engineering organization. This role is located in Palmdale, CA.

Is this role you will be assessing and dispositioning non-conformances as they occur in our production environment. The selected candidate will author detailed engineering direction as well as collaborate readily with support engineering roles in order to ensure the integrity of the final product. In addition to this, the selected candidate will provide technical mentorship and training to the existing team of early and mid-career engineers.

Key Responsibilities
* Establish and maintain Material Review Board authority in order to autonomously address the rigors of the role.
* Assess, disposition, and buy off non-conformance tags as they arise in the production environment.
* Coordinate dispositioned repairs, as appropriate, with support roles in the organization.
* Mentor early and mid-career engineers and help grow the team's technical competencies.
* Create and/or revise engineering training specific to the team's daily tasks.

This opening is for a 4 day - 10 hours/day schedule (Monday - Thursday) on day shift. We offer phenomenal learning opportunities and a very friendly team environment. Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum of 9 years of directly related engineering experience (Masters degree may count towards an additional 2 years of experience)

* Experience with the Material Review Board (MRB) process with prior MRB authority

* Experience dispositioning non-conformances via the MRB process

* Experience with CATIA V5, NX, Visualization Pro, TeamCenter, MES, or other CAD programs

* Experience working in an aircraft manufacturing facility

* Must have an active DoD SECRET or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

* Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment

Preferred Qualifications:
* Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
* Experience interfacing with a military customer
* Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment
* Experience with aircraft structural or subsystem design
* Previous experience in the Liaison Engineering discipline
