Lead Cloud Network Engineer at T-Rex Solutions (View all jobs) Greenbelt, MD The Lead Cloud Network Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, implementation and O&M projects at various Cloud Service Providers like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle etc. for the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) customer. This role will assist in developing network architectures and networks design based on best practices and tailored to the clients’ needs and infrastructure. You will work with application teams to ensure smooth migrations to the Cloud. In this role, the candidate should have a strong understanding of cloud network configurations and various ways of technically networking the environment. Tasks include the installation, configuration and maintenance of routers/switches, Wireless LAN Controllers and access points, and the activation of all WAN telecommunication circuits. The lead network engineer will also prepare presentations for the client and serve as a network Subject Matter Expert (SME). Responsibilities:Serve as the Lead Network Engineer, guiding a team of network engineers on the implementation and maintenance of the CBP LAN/WAN infrastructureSupport the design, evaluation, installation, and management of the CBP LAN/WAN infrastructureMaintain efficient functional systems, network, and communication connectivity for all users, keeping current on new developments for all assigned areas, including continually performing feasibility studies on how new products/technology would fit into existing system/WAN/LAN infrastructures and developing implementation plans for the changes/upgrades. Make ongoing recommendations of cloud network policies and standards.Analyze, plan, test, implement, and trouble shoot systems, wide area network and communications network systemsDetect, isolate, notify, and correct faults encountered in the networkManage the configuration aspects of network devices such as configuration file management, inventory management, and software managementPerform network planning, modeling, capacity planning, and lab testing for communication systems and applicationsMonitor and measure various aspects of performance so that overall performance can be maintained at an acceptable levelCollect, monitor, and analyze usage information of network resources to support proactive management and future planningPrepare presentations and present to the client as required Required Skills: 10+ years of experience working with LAN/WAN infrastructure and administrationIn depth understanding of Cloud technologies like AWS VPC, AWS Transitive Gateway (TGW), AWS DirectConnect, AWS Security Groups, AWS Flowlogs and Azure ExpressRouteSignificant experience with supporting and maintaining F5 BIG-IP load balancers to include setup, maintenance, upgrades and replacement of the latest generation F5s.Significant Cisco platform experienceExperience implementing network solutions and technologies to support a Hybrid Cloud – On Prem infrastructureAdvanced experience designing, building and managing complex networksExperience working with cloud networks and connecting to CSPs (e.g. AWS)Experience with TCPDump, Wireshark and analyzing network trafficExperience in custom SSL, ciphers and LTM traffic performance optimizationFamiliarity with configuration management and automationData Center Networking experienceBrocade experienceNexus switch experienceExperience with F5 load balancersExperience with creating diagrams and rack elevationsHands-on experience installing and configuring routers and switchesExperience with Layer 2 & Layer 3 technologiesCCNA/CCNP certification desired Soft Skills:Communications/Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently to team members and clients, verbally and in writing.
