Purpose of Position

Continually evaluate the progress Finisher Team and each concrete pour to ensure that Safety, Quality and place and finish Procedures are maintained on accordance with company policy and ACI standards. Complete every concrete pour ensuring that the total satisfaction of our customers and the goals of the company are achieved.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Significant experience is required with no less than 5 years combined experience as a Concrete Superintendent. This position requires superior organizational, supervisory and communication skills. A self-motivated individual that is detail oriented with the ability to complete multiple tasks with consistency and accuracy on the finishers/equipment Team. Exceptional follow-up skills are required, and the candidate should possess the ability to adapt to change. Communication skills include verbal as well as written. PC skills include the use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, cost codes, Schedules, Cost analysis, the internet and familiarity with menu driven software is helpful. The capabilities to think ahead, identify and resolve potential problems is a must. Must provide or be able to obtain OSHA 30-hour certification and CPR/First Aid certification. Knowledge of Concrete Mix Designs, ACI standards, Laser Screeds, FF/FL Knowledge, and Concrete Properties.

  • Goals: The Finishing Operations Lead is responsible for ensuring that the overall safety, quality, cost, and productivity of concrete pours remain consistent with company policy and ACI standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Perform audits to ensure that the Superintendents are adhering to company safety policies.
  • Assist Project Superintendents or Project Managers in the investigation of incidents (vehicle accidents, personal injury, and general liabilities).
  • Administer corrective action on safety violations.
  • Ensure that proper safety equipment is available for finishing crew.
  • Ensure that handrails are installed prior to pouring concrete at elevated decks.
  • Perform and submit Pre-Task meeting to company safety representatives.
  • Ensure Safety Talks and vehicle/equipment maintenance is performed and submitted for official records.


  • Ensure that safe and reliable project that meets or exceeds customer expectations is built the first time, every time.
  • Spot-check elevations, which would significantly affect the cost of the pours.
  • Communicate with Screed Operator and Project Superintendent to determine type of placement as required by contract documents. (FF/FL)
  • Continually be aware of concrete condition and potential cold joints.
  • Continually verify placed concrete for consistent elevation and thickness.

Scheduling and Productivity

  • Perform pre-pour site visits.
  • Attend weekly Concrete Coordination meeting with the Project Managers and Laser Screed Operator.
  • Determine manpower and equipment required for each pour.
  • Continually update concrete schedule as pours are cancelled and added.
  • Be sure to notify Laser Screed Operator and crew of cancelled pours and schedule changes.
  • Always stay aware of the conditions of Laser Screed.
  • Lead and direct work of subcontractors based on the schedule.
  • Review Job Cost as it pertains to concrete placement and finishing.
  • Work directly with the Purchasing Department to ensure equipment and materials are ordered as required.
  • Work directly with the Project Managers and Equipment Coordinators to schedule concrete pours.
  • Ensure that all time is submitted through WorkMax Application to a project and is accurately coded to the correct cost codes.
  • Plan and organize manpower and equipment resources efficiently by pre-surveying, forecasting of profit or loss, determine crew size and type, which reduces conflicts and resolve issues before construction.
  • Manage through leadership and good communication.
  • Motivate and inspire employees through positive reinforcement and timely feedback on expected safety, quality, and productivity related goals.
  • Hire field personnel in a manner consistent with the company's policies and practices.
  • Provide resources to subordinates for opportunities for continuous training.
  • Concrete Coordinator must be available. 24/7 when finishing crews are onsite.
  • Conduct annual written evaluations of concrete crew and Place and Finish Superintendent.

Performance Evaluations are conducted after the first 90 days and annually thereafter or as deemed necessary by Supervisor.
