Job Description

Syscon has an opening for a full-time experienced Level IV Network Engineer for remote and on-site Client work. This includes maintenance of existing infrastructure, planning and execution of upgrades and equipment changes, and responsibility for our Cloud stacks. We manage and support VMware Networks in-house and at client locations.

Job Description:

Network Engineer – Level 4 Network Technician with VMware focus and strong network infrastructure skills and experience
Skills: 6+ years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining Microsoft Windows platforms, PC Hardware and Software, VMware hosts and related VMware components and management tools, Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) as a Level IV Technician; Excellent communication and documentation skills; fast-paced, dedicated, flexible, takes pride in their work.

This includes providing regular network maintenance, remote support, infrastructure planning and recommendations, hardware and software implementation and upgrades, backups and disaster recovery, Private Hosting, and Managed Services. Responsibilities may include...

  • Great customer support
  • Participation in the Network Team – contributing, learning, sharing, brainstorming
  • Troubleshooting and resolve tickets that have been escalated by other team members
  • System design, system updates, for client networks and our hosted environment
  • Health and well being of our internal network
  • Health and well being of our hosted environment offering
  • Checking the NOC alerts for all equipment under management
  • Maintaining our VMware environments, including up-time, maintenance planning, software/hardware upgrades, and expansion
  • Checking the backup portal for failures or alerts, troubleshoot
  • Following and updating maintenance checklists; continual improvements of these checklists
  • Updating tickets with tasks performed, screen shots, outcomes, and time worked, as well as status
  • Updating our IT Coordinator regarding assigned tickets and projects
  • Honoring client confidentiality and guarding their data and access
  • Following the schedule to meet our promises to our clients


Required Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Level IV Tech troubleshooting and maintaining MS Windows platforms
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain Microsoft Windows Server in production environment
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain Microsoft Exchange Server
  • VMware experience including ESXi hosts, creating new servers, use of VMware tools such as V-Center, V-Sphere, etc.; ability to troubleshoot and maintain environment; managing MSA’s and host drive space
  • Datto BDR servers – monitor, troubleshoot, implement
  • Firewall configurations, VPN tunnels, Sonicwall a plus
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues
  • Troubleshoot Wireless Connectivity, public/private wi-fi networks
  • Documentation including tickets/work orders

  • Managed Services (NOC) experience using N-able Platform or similar
