Job Description

Are you a passionate, driven, collaborative individual who relishes responsibility for driving growth-related support functions in a fast growing SDVOB, Syndetix/DGS?

You will provide support to our critical defense, intelligence, federal, state, local, and commercial customers.

You will report directly to the CEO and participate as an integral member of the Syndetix/DGS leadership team, with responsibility for helping formulate strategy, promote business development, ensure effective captures, and drive development of high quality proposals. You must be a superior manager as well as teacher and mentor.

You will be responsible for sales targeting Federal Government Agencies and Departments, marketing, identifying, developing, qualifying and most importantly capturing new business opportunities which will be providing contractor services. 

Your knowledge of customers, understanding of our competitors, and an awareness of the effects on the market overall will drive revenue helping to meet the customers' mission and grow our business.

Essential Functions and skills required:


  • Develop new relationships and put to use existing ones to grow business and help the company flourish.
  • Identify, establish, and utilize relationships with key government agencies and military decision makers.
  1. Lead product sales efforts including initiating calls to prospective clients, preparing capability briefings and information packets, conducting client meetings to uncover, create opportunities that lead to new business and expand relationships.
  2. A proven record of delivering winning capture / opportunities, valued at >$100M. Proven success getting on contract vehicles and WINNING those opportunities.
  3. Analyze government marketplace to identify business opportunities that match company capabilities and experience.
  4. Knowledge of Government funding models and processes and able to help potential customers obtain funding.
  5. Conducts capture planning, manage proposal preparation, submission, closure and follow up.
  6. Develop and maintain a prioritized pipeline. Maintain existing business. Identify new business opportunities.
  7. Win/Loss analysis, lessons learned and related process improvements.
  8. Proficiency in Bid and Proposal, to include technical writing, pricing, and personnel manning.
  9. Use consultative selling techniques to better understand customer desires and thus create customer-centric solutions.
  10. Develop and implement multi-level and multi-dimensional customer contact plans.
  11. Work with company staff to ensure all appropriate resources are utilized to respond to request for proposals.
  12. Attend workshops, trade shows, and seminars to maintain deep understanding of market segment and customer environment in addition to making new relationships.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities, but with sufficient growth, other positions could be hired to report to the Manager.

Work Environment

This job could operate in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. However, our expectation is that the BD executive would live and operate closest to our customer base and work from home.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Could require long hours and frequent weekend work in surges.


This position could require up to 50% travel depending on the candidate’s home location. Some travel could be international.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with concentration in business.

Minimum of two years of demonstrated sales or related experience.

Knowledge & experience of Federal & Defense Industry Contracting and an understanding of FAR/DFAR.

Proven track record of sales/captures with examples of revenue from “wins”.

Knowledge and experience with program management, program planning and execution.

Proven ability to function with minimal supervision Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office. Products to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and MS Project.

Preferred Education and Experience

Master’s degree.

10+ years of related industry experience.

Military Veteran

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Experience with Government IT Services' requirements and needs

Experience with GovWin, FedBizOps, FedConnect, and/or similar systems.

Experience using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

Experience with Microsoft NAV ERP system.

Veteran or previous military employment (Officer, Warrant Officer or Non-Commissioned Officer) with familiarity of military programs, culture, terminology, and procedures.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be a US Citizen and possess a current or recent US Security Clearance.
