Systems Admin & Tech Project Liaison

Under limited supervision, the Systems Admin & Tech Project Liaison installs, maintains, tests, repairs, and documents systems and networks. This person for this position utilizes advanced technical knowledge to plan and lead the implementation of technical solutions after conferring with the Tech Project Lead. They provide technical insight and support and resolve problems of a comprehensive and complex nature. They further assist users/departments in formulating requests or proposals and in determining information system needs assessments, working with vendors and internal management to provide cost-effective recommendations.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs complex problem solving and assistance on diverse software applications and hardware systems for departments or the organization holistically.
  • Contributes to overall architecture and infrastructure, especially as it relates to availability, scalability, security, performance; performing ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
  • Serves as a primary project member on technology projects; may lead and integrate the work of other staff, as it relates to a specific project or implementation as agreed upon with Tech Project Lead.
  • Oversees, troubleshoots, and resolves complex system hardware, software, and network failures and conflicts for both the on-prem and cloud-based environments. This includes proactive measures to ensure systems are kept in order.
  • Participates in and/or leads the review, evaluation and recommendation of technology initiatives and solutions relating to hardware, software, and services as approved by management or Tech Project Lead.
  • Performs diverse technical assistance (Level 2 and Level 3), documents findings through ticketing system, and performs maintenance duties that may encompass a variety of user support needs.
  • Performs on-boarding and decommissioning of user devices, ensuring standard procedures are always up to date.
  • Establishes working relationships with primary tech vendors, coordinating and negotiating purchases for software, hardware, licensing, and ongoing maintenance contracts.
  • Identifies potential security risks and proposes practical mitigation measures. This includes direct collaboration with both internal compliance and external Cyber Security providers to ensure all systems are safe, and backup and recovery systems are functional.
  • Creates, maintains, updates and documents technology plans and procedures, such as technology implementation plans, technology inventory, technician procedures, cyber procedures, and user ‘how-to’ procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge with respect to technology, equipment, applicable laws, regulations, standards and/or systems.
  • Provides in-depth individual and/or group instruction and training on new systems or software as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree & 3 years related experience
  • Position requires limited weekend and evening support, shared with team. Hybrid work-from-home environment will be considered based on experience.

Specific Knowledge:

  • O365 Admin experience for enterprise licensing for hybrid environment that includes Exchange, Teams, Sharepoint, and Azure
  • Familiarity with AWS environment
  • VMWare, Win 2016 Server and Fortigate OS (Operating System) config experience
  • Windows DNS (Domain Name System), DHCP, Exchange365
  • File storage solutions, encryption practices and secured email.
  • Domain registration and SSL certificate implementation experience
  • MacOS and Windows 10 desktop OS

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Project-Task balance - stays on-task balanced with the ability to task-shift as required based on changing priorities as identified by Tech Project Lead or Management.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management.
  • Eager to investigate and learn new things and apply newly learned information to task-at-hand.
  • Solid tech research and documentation skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with end-users, including the ability to convert technical terms into understandable language and transfer knowledge when needed.
  • Organized, responsive, empathetic.
