JOB TITLE: Sr. Production ManagerDEPARTMENT: Operations FLSA: Exempt Positions Supervised: Production Area Managers SUMMARY Under the direction of the Director of Planning, the Production Manager is responsible for ensuring daily production of upholstered furniture is executed according to schedule. The Sr. Production Manager oversees the multiple manufacturing areas that support final production, directs daily activities ensuring that products are manufactured on-schedule, within quality standards and cost parameters. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Executes the daily production schedule maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure products conform to established customer and company quality standards. • Achieve optimum productivity and employee efficiency levels with the least amount of overhead and raw material costs. • Direct and monitor department supervisors and area managers to accomplish goals of the production schedule, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures. • Act as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance and results. • Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. • Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and according to company policy. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. • Coordinate with HR to establish appropriate staffing levels, training processes, daily direct labor metrics, safety root cause analysis process, and employee events • Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards. • Implements various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., 5S, training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.). • Manage monthly bonus process for production/direct labor employees and their respective leads, and assistant leads. • Implements major projects, (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.). • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE • Experience working with manufacturing-based technology, processes and principles including Oracle, SAP or related technology • Confident, independent action, initiative and a sense of urgency • Ability to react and quickly adjust to changing conditions at a faster-than-average pace • Knowledge of process improvement, manufacturing engineering and related fields • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects • Excellent verbal and written communication • Ability to interact collaboratively with others MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • BA/BS in industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline. • 7-10 years experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operations and/or related industry. • 5 years of people management/leadership experience MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE • An independent decision maker that will occasionally utilize team consensus or collaboration • A stimulating influence on employees, while being firm, direct, and self-assured in dealing with them DESIRABLES • Oracle • Furniture industry experience • Process Improvement • Six Sigma • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus CORE COMPETENCIES • Planning and Organizing • Collaborating/Influencing Others • Quality Orientation • Initiating Action EFFORT • Frequent standing and walking • Visual acuity and manual dexterity in operating a computer • Occasional bending and stooping • Limited lifting no more than 25lbs.
