Primary Responsibilities:

Champion the Sylvan developed curriculum at both of our learning centers

  • Teach student programs, K-12
  • Motivate and develop staff through ongoing trainings and workshops
  • Administer Sylvan Skills Assessments; analyze and interpret results
  • Write and recommend goal-based programs for Sylvan Students as well as monitor programs for performance consistency and timeliness
  • Establish relationships and communications with students' teachers for insights on school progress
  • Create a positive learning environment by modeling motivational behavior in the center for staff, students and parents, during all phases of the instructional program

Grow the business in the center through exceptional customer service and quality academic results

  • Communicate a student’s progress to student guardian(s)
  • Make recommendations to alter learning plans and/or offer additional programs
  • Participate in community activities/outreach (including evening and weekend events)

Manage and ensure the quality of the education standards and teaching staff

  • Assist team with hiring, training, and motivating all certified instructors, teachers and educational staff
  • Assist team with scheduling staff and students accordingly
  • Provide oversight to staff related to all educational policies and procedures
  • Partner with the Center Director to run operations, plan staff development, and conduct staff-reviews

Administrative tasks

  • Front-desk duties such as taking phone calls, replying to messages, emails, and texts
  • Greeting students/customers, introducing them to teacher
  • Following up with paperwork: filing, updating student information, etc.
  • Assist with monthly billing
  • Cross-trained for Prometric Testing Center

Skills Required:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn
  • Ability to discuss and sell Sylvan products and services to new and existing customers
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
  • Self-sufficiency in ownership of work and tasks along with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience
  • Ability to work collaboratively; strong team player
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn
  • Previous business, marketing, and/or sales experience preferred

Education Required:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Education
  • Teaching certification (current or expired)

Compensation ($35,00-$45,000 annually):

As a team member, you'll work in a fast-paced environment and make an impact on our students, customers, and business. Our total rewards package includes:

  • Base Salary: $30,000 to $36,000/year, reviewed annually
  • Quarterly bonuses for meeting company objectives available after 6 months (expected $3,000-$8,000)
  • Simple IRA plan available within 6 months with 3% matching contribution
  • Paid holidays + PTO + one 3-day weekend every month

Job Type: Full-time: The right candidate could be considered for part time.

Schedule: tentative Monday-Friday, ~10am-6pm (~1 Saturday/month)
