The focus of this position is on performing financial analysis on client and internal projects.
The responsibilities for conducting R&D Tax Credit Audits entail completing forensic audits on client accounting data; building spreadsheets to calculate qualified research expenses and credits; and writing the methodology for each project. This position is also responsible for articulating the report via well-organized spreadsheets and clear write-ups, and for fielding client questions, both orally and through email.
The analyst, after training, is responsible for understanding and applying tax-code regulations and IRS court-case rulings to each client situation. Further, the analyst will be required to conduct research regarding specific tax matters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducts financial audits of client accounting data related to R&D tax credits
Builds well-organized credit-calculation spreadsheets
Writes R&D tax credit studies
Conducts tax research
Meets with clients in person and participates in Zoom calls
Provides support to the Tax Credit Manager in training interns
Tracks progress on each project
Writes clear, effective emails
Participates in internal process improvement projects
Completes compliance paperwork for government incentive programs, including training grants, property-tax abatements, and job-creation incentives
Reports issues and concerns immediately to the Tax Credit Manager
Engages the technical-writing department to improve efficiency and quality of work
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
Strong applied knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required
Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office and financial software applications
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to sit for the CPA exam, preferred.
Ability to understand technical discussions, to analyze and solve problems, and to synthesize information.
Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
