Basic Requirements
- Have the ability to complete assigned tasks accurately and within the timeframe allowed.
- Be flexible with working hours to allow for occasional overtime if the job schedule requires it.
- Must be self-motivated and flexible to work well under tight schedules in a fast paced team environment.
- Be neat in appearance and maintain a civil attitude towards your fellow employees.
- Must be able to focus on your own tasks and not disrupt other employees.
- Maintain good housekeeping in work area.
- Have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds as well as be able to stand for 10 hours during your shift. This may include crawling and twisting into tight or awkward locations in order to gain access.
- Ability to climb and use ladders.
- Technical college course work in electrical theory and Electrician apprenticeship.
- Basic understanding of NEC.
- Possess a strong safety ethic.
- Possess basic computer skills.
- Possess a strong attention to detail.
- Perform work in a neat and orderly fashion as per specifications and standards that may be unique to SPS
- Be able to distinguish all colors.
Desired Requirements
- Journeyman’s or Master’s Electrician credential.
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of all hand and power tools including voltmeters, continuity checker, basic hand tools, Pipe bender/threader (PVC, EMT and Rigid) Power Bender, power tools and taps and drills.
- Comfortable with the safe use of hand tools for cutting, stripping, drilling and punching of holes in steel cabinets and/or control enclosures.
- Have the ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Solid understanding of NEC.
- Basic understanding of NFPA.
- Possess basic computer skills.
- 3 years electrician experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills
- Solid problem solving skills.
Job Functions
- Install utility power components including AC/DC panels, battery charges, conduit, receptacles, circuit breakers, lights, antennas, all LV (120-480 volt) components.
- Verify components with the bill of materials to ensure accuracy.
- Install electrical components per assembly drawings.
- Operate a computer terminal to look up drawings and diagrams.
- Wear appropriate safety gear at all times.
- Maintain control of the tools provided to you and ensure that your company issued tool box is inventoried daily and locked up when not in use.
- Maintain a high attention to detail and strive for a “Zero Error Build”.
Level 3
- Basic understanding of NEC and NFPA code.
- Dimensionally layout panels, conduit and mount devices using various methods.
- Verify components with the bill of materials to ensure accuracy.
- Wire AC/DC panels in accordance with provided schematics.
- Wear appropriate safety gear at all times.
- Maintain control of the tools provided to you and ensure that your tool box is inventoried and locked up when not in use.
- Maintain cleanliness of person and work area.
- Neatly route wire, conduit and cabling per code.
- Install electrical components per direction and layout drawings.
- Take instruction from your supervisor on best work practices/procedures for meeting required goals.
- Report all design or material non conformances to your supervisor immediately upon identification.
- Other responsibilities as designated by your supervisor or department manager.
- Maintain a daily log of work hours.
- Assist other departments as required.
- Have the ability to be trained on forklifts and scissors lifts.
Responsibilities – Level 2
- All responsibilities listed in level 3.
- Solid understanding of NEC and NFPA code.
- Hold a Journeyman card and maintain this status.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local and national codes.
- Have a good understanding of technical documentation, mechanical drawings, bill of materials and operating instructions.
- Good coaching skills as well as a desire to teach other employees.
- Can lead by example.
- Initiate procedures and communicate with other departments as required.
- Have the ability to apply basic problem solving skills and procedures.
- Gives suggestions on ways to improve products or manufacturing processes.
- Able to correctly complete all relevant paperwork and also follow deadlines.
- Able to verify schematics for accuracy.
- Understands both 120/208/240 and 277/480 volt AC circuits and color codes as well as expected voltages.
- Understand DC control voltages.
- Be able to work with minimum or no supervision.
Responsibilities – Level 1
- All responsibilities listed in level 2 and 3.
- Solid understanding of NEC and NFPA code.
- Hold a Masters card and maintain this status.
- Assist in post construction inspections to ensure quality of product prior to testing.
- Has the ability to perform any and all directives with no instruction.
- Has both the ability and desire to be a trainer for new employees.
- Work with electrical engineers to design layouts.
$35+ per hour
