Sweet Flower Controller
Sweet Flower is looking for a dedicated, hands-on, entrepreneurial controller to coordinate all bookkeeping functions across our chain of retail dispensaries, delivery locations and manufacturing and distribution centers in Southern California.
Sweet Flower’s Controller will undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Finance controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management. Initial report is to the CEO, but it is envisaged that the Controller will report to the CFO when that role is onboarded.

Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
Support month-end and year-end close process.
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Additional controller duties as necessary.
At this time, this position has no supervisory responsibilities but as the business grows, this position will be responsible for managing the accounting department.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job operates in an office business environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items that weigh more than 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
3-5 years of hands-on accounting managerial experience.
Retail experience desirable
Cannabis experience desirable but optional.
This position requires up to 20% travel, regionally within Southern California
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, days and hours of work vary by schedule. Evening and weekend work may be required as schedule demands.
