Assistant Clinical Manager RN - Mental Health

Providence is calling an Assistant Clinical Manager Registered Nurse (RN) (Mental Health 4W, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable. 


In this position you will:

  • Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing and other services.
  • Use leadership principles to anticipate and influence change.
  • Establish clear clinical practice expectations based on professional standards for areas of responsibility.
  • Use independent judgment to assign work to team members and to responsibly direct team members.
  • Support the implementation of organization policies and procedures in compliance with state, Federal and other regulatory guidelines to help ensure that high quality, cost-effective patient services meet or surpass accreditation standards.
  • Assume responsibility for obtaining information and expanding job knowledge and competency that reflects current practice.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and modification of programs and services needed to meet patient care and staff development needs.

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse without a Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) degree or higher must obtain a BSN within 30 months of hire
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska
  • 3 years of clinical experience in area of clinical specialty
  • 2 years of recent clinical supervisory experience or charge nurse experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
  • Certification within area of expertise or practice (Nursing management, ANCC, etc)

About the Mental Health Department
Mental Health - 4 West is divided into three units, specializing in mental health care to both adult and adolescent patients. The adult unit is comprised of 12 beds, while the Discovery Units have 9 beds (west) and 6 beds (east). All units are voluntary. The physicians, multidisciplinary staff, patients and families work together to create an environment that fosters stabilization and planning for the patient's future needs.
