RA II/RA III/SRA, Molecular Biology/Antibody Discovery

Surrozen is a biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing novel regenerative medicines with a focus on unlocking the powerful self-renewal properties of the body through specific control of the Wnt signaling pathway.

This position within the Protein Sciences Group is a great opportunity for experienced associates to expand their skills in leading technologies for antibody discovery including phage display and in vivo antibody discovery.

We are open to the following levels:

Research Associate II, Research Associate III, Senior Research Associate

Requirements

• BS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related life science field (or equivalent) with 2+ years of industry experience, or MS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related life science field with 1+ year of industry experience

• Two years of experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning, E. coli transformation and cultivation, and DNA extraction
• Golden Gate assembly or Gibson assembly expertise and competence in site-directed mutagenesis is highly desired
• Experience in antibody library selection with surface display platform (biopanning or FACS sorting) or single B cell platform is highly desired

• Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills

• Self-motivated, detail oriented and thorough, and be capable to work both independently and collaboratively
• Ability and desire to work in a fast paced, start up environment

Responsibilities

• Perform routine molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to cloning, sequence analysis, plasmid DNA extraction and PCR, DNA normalization both manually and on automation platform
• Perform DNA quality control and documentation
• Manage inventory of required materials and maintain lab equipment to support DNA construction and preparation
• Optimize and standardize high throughput workflow
• Perform ELISA assay to monitor antibody titer in serum
• Assist in construction/selection of antibody libraries, and prepare PPE (periplasmic extraction) for antibody binding assay
• Keep good records of lab work in electronic lab notebook (ELN) and in-house databases
• Gather data, perform analysis, and present results to team members
• Preparation of technical reports, summaries and detailed protocols, and contribute to company reports as requested

Pluses

• Relevant experience in industry or academic setting
• Experience with wet lab automation system (Q-pix, EpMotion etc)
• Experience with Molecular biology software (Geneious, Benchling etc)
