Job Description
Surgical Directions is looking for experienced Nurse leaders including OR Directors for interim opportunities throughout the United States. These assignments range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Travel is expected, but will be reimbursed.


  • Working collaboratively with the Clinical Chief Medical Officer, Chief Executive Officer, CNO, and the Medical Director of Perioperative Services on the day-to-day operations, to include: Scheduling, Same Day, OR, PACU, PAT, Materials, and SPD
  • Being on-site for a total of forty (40) hours per week.  Work schedule will be left to the discretion of Client 
  • Being available to surgeons, anesthesiologists, staff, and administration 
  • Assessing and developing prioritized work plan of activities
  • Assisting in the development of a communication plan with the CMO and leadership
  • Dressing in scrubs and making daily rounds; providing on-going support to staff members in the scrub and circulating roles
  • Ensuring that “daily huddles” are held with nursing staff prior to start of each shift; additionally, afternoon collaborative huddles will be held with the Medical Director and key personnel to review scheduling and pre-operative activities prior to day of surgery
  • Providing oversight of OR hours and staffing to meet surgeons’ requirements and striving to minimize overtime
  • Mentoring staff on an on-going basis to provide safe, quality care for all areas of responsibility
  • Ensuring that 2021 patient safety goals are being met and preparing for 2022
  • Ensuring that facility is preparing for unannounced Joint Commission survey
  • Monitoring staff education and ensuring that all competencies are kept up-to-date
  • Providing recommendations and formalized educational process to improve staff competencies by function and role
  • Ensuring that collaboration occurs between the Medical Director, anesthesia, and nursing leadership
  • Supporting the site’s efforts in collaboration with Human Resources to secure a perioperative director 
  • Evaluating staff competencies and value to the department, working to address practice patterns with the sites policies and corrective actions plans 


  • Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing; Master's of Science Nursing preferred
  • CNOR
  • Liability insurance
  • Cyber insurance
  • 5 years' Periop experience
  • COVID vaccination (as required by hospital or facility)
  • Other licenses (as required by hospital or facility)
