Job Description

Surgical Center at Cedar Knolls seeks a highly talented individual to join our team! This candidate will be filling a dual role, acting as both the Director of Nursing and Administrator. In this role you shall be responsible for the complete day-to-day operations of the surgery center. This role contains a $5,000 Signing Bonus after 90 days!

Director of Nursing Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining written objectives, policies, a procedure manual, an organizational plan, and a quality assurance program for the center.
  • Participating in planning and budgeting for the center, supervises purchasing supplies and materials mangement. Major equipment purchases are thoroughly researched and documented before the purchase goes to review.
  • Ensuring that center staffing patterns are implemented. Handles all personnel issues.
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining written job descriptions for all staff, and assigning duties based upon education, training, competencies, and job descriptions.
  • Coordinating and participating in staff orientation and staff education activities.
  • Develops and maintains written objectives, policies, and procedure manuals, an organizational plan, and quality assurance, performance improvement program for all staff.
  • Establishes, implements and monitors, in conjunction with other members of the patient care team, standards of patient care within the framework of the standards of the center.
  • Supervises and directs all staff towards safe and competent patient care.
  • Works flexible hours in assuming responsibility and accountability for providing patient care. Relieves other nurses within the division, as necessary.

Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Applies sound management principles to organize, plan, coordinate and control the flow of activities, personnel and utilization of resources.
  • Sets realistic unit objectives and demonstrates effectiveness in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities to meet these objectives.
  • Oversees Inventory Control, QA/PI, Infection Control, and Financial Analysis of the center.
  • Participating in the business plan, marketing efforts, and customer service of the center.
  • Guides and directs all staff.
  • Demonstrates analytical abilities necessary to successfully identify a problem and to develop a sound plan of action for resolution.
  • Works flexible hours in assuming responsibility and accountability for providing patient care. Relieves other nurses within the division, as necessary.
  • Participates in maintaining a safe environment for staff and patients.
  • Manages all staff and evaluates the need for overtime or per diem nurses to meet patient care requirements.
  • Reviews and/or revises established goals and objectives, to participate in the planning and evaluating of the new program, special project, and priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Current and Valid State of New Jersey Nursing License
  • Must have OR Orthopedic experience
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Director of Nursing
  • Previous experience as an Administrator is a plus
