Mechanical Conveyor Designer

Our client is the nation"s largest producer of construction aggregates-primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel-and a major producer of aggregates-based construction materials, including asphalt and ready-mixed concrete. They have a tremendous Permanent Opportunity for a Sr. Mechanical Designer.

• Computer-aided design and drafting of structural steel and concrete drawings using AutoCAD.
• Work independently to design and develop detailed drawings as required.
• Ability to operate large format plotters and scanners with minimal training.
• Ability to understand conveyor drive calculations, flow models, pump design calculations, etc.
• Additional work includes field measurements, mapping, cross-sections, aerial photo interpretations, model building, long-range planning of primary crusher and conveyor arrangements.
• Responsible for maintaining the Engineering Department's electronic drawing files.
• Primary support for Project Engineers. Collaborate to correct discrepancies in drawings and designs.
• Responsible for developing and incorporating design concepts while maintaining best practices with designs.
• Review shop drawings as required for outside fabrication.
• Meet project schedule and quality requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple design projects and maintain flexibility in work assignments as changes occur in projects.
• Follow up with the project and construction team to ensure that lessons learned during construction are translated into future designs and drawings.
• Review work produced by outside vendors

Qualifications

Education

• High school education. Technical school training in AutoCAD with 3D modeling experience preferred.

Skills You'll Need:

• Drafting: Minimum five years of experience in structural drafting work using AutoCAD. Aggregate industry experience is strongly preferred.
• Communication: Ability to collaborate with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
