## Position Summary

The Assistant Dean for Accessibility is the primary administrator for the office of Accessibility Services and the manager of Geneseo's Testing Center. The Assistant Dean works with faculty and staff across the College to advocate for students, explain accommodations, and educate members of the Geneseo community about legal issues for disability services in higher education and the College's commitment to providing access to students requesting academic and non-academic accommodations. The Assistant Dean frequently consults with the Associate Provost for Student Success, the Dean of Academic Planning & Advising, faculty, the Dean of Students, the Office of Diversity and Equity, Student Life, Residence Life, Facilities, and student organizations, but ultimate authority for approving accommodations rests with the Assistant Dean for Accessibility. The Assistant Dean plays an important role in promoting equity of access through appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities, and thus participates in campus strategic planning around issues of student success and well being. The Assistant Dean participates with departments across the College in monitoring, and assurance of access to, electronic and information technology (EIT). As a member of the Academic Advising "team," the Assistant Dean reports to the Dean of Academic Planning and Advising, supporting the department as needed for Academic Standards meetings, course registration, and helping students transition to and thrive at Geneseo.
