The Sunray Companies, an award-winning operator of best-in-class retail and hospitality brands, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join the corporate office team in Madison, Mississippi. This is a full-time, salaried position and reports to the VP of Operations. 50% of the position is payroll and benefits related including payroll processing while the other half of responsibilities will focus on additional HR duties. This i only 1 of 2 HR positions in the company so a candidate with experience in a small or medium sized family-owned business will be the ideal fit.
Essential Job Functions
Handles all payroll functions including processing payroll semi-monthly.
Onboards new hires including E-Verify and I-9.
Administers and reconciles all team member benefit programs (401k, medical, supplemental, PTO).
Oversees all unemployment, garnishments and similar claims and reporting.
Investigates accidents for liability and workers compensation and actively manages insurance claims.
Maintains all team member employment files and records and ensures compliance and security of records.
Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and benefit programs.
Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.
Counsels team members and analyzes team members grievances or dissatisfaction to cultivate positive relationships and retention.
Trains management in HR policies and programs.
Implements company culture, values and policies.
Cultivates relationships with HR-related vendors and brokers.
Special projects or other duties as assigned by the VP of Operations or company owners.
- The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and will share The Sunray Companies' high-performing and results-driven mindset.
The ideal candidate will have:
o A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or similar field.
o At least 2-4 years of experience in human resources, payroll and benefits
o Excellent reasoning, analytical, conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills
o Experience with a diverse work force in a multi-unit environment
o Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise good judgement
o A high degree of technology use
o Ability to quickly learn various company and HR systems including onboarding/HR/payroll, file sharing and storage, and similar.
o Extensive knowledge and use of the full Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint are required).
o Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills.
o Positive energy and engagement that facilitates a culture of teamwork.
o Occasional travel within Mississippi and Louisiana.
o Experience with team members and customer accidents and incidents is a plus.
