The field technician will inspect and record botanical species and/or archaeology finds from surveys.
Included in these tasks will be the compilation of field data and completion of site reports.Duties & ResponsibilitiesTask assigned to the field technician will include short-term field surveys and field documentation. The field technician must be able to work as with a team of other natural and cultural resource specialists to complete project work. Additional skills include assisting in the preparation of field equipment while applying scientific knowledge to interpret and present results of field and desktop studies as required.
The field technician is responsible for performing the identification of biological species or identified areas in their native setting and identifying artifacts related to cultural resources surveys. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:The field technician must have good time management and organizational skills with the ability to work well under time constraints.High School diploma and University level course work in anthropology, archaeology, biology, botany, environmental science, or other similar programs. A Bachelor's degree in anthropology, archaeology, biology, botany, environmental science, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
1 year of experience in field work for project study.Ability to meet physical demands of the position such as walking, hiking, standing, lifting up to 40 lbs., bending, squatting, and crawling. Experience with Microsoft suite of software, Word, Excel, Outlook. Good written, verbal communication and organizational skills.Working ConditionsWork in the field often time in remote locations, camping, walking/hiking long distances on uneven ground, extremes in temperature or humidity.Ability to travel and work overtime.Physical RequirementsAs a federal contractor that is subject to Executive Order 14042, Sundance requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment, subject to accommodations for bona fide medical and religious exemptions.Walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting.
Ability to hike/walk up to 10 miles over uneven terrain.
