Summit Pathology Laboratories is looking to add an enthusiastic team player to our fast - paced, growing Pathology Company, as an Accessioner III/Hospital Lab Tech.

As a Hospital Lab Tech, you will be responsible for assisting our Pathologists and Pathologists’ Assistants in surgical pathology and organizational duties, including:

  • Assisting with intraoperative procedures; frozen sections, touch preps and FNAs
  • Reviewing surgery schedules and patient histories
  • Rotating coverage between Summit supported facilities
  • Test ordering and review in the supported LIS; EPIC Hyperspace and /or Cerner
  • Communicating workloads to the staffed Pathologist and PA
  • Routinely interacting with hospital staff to triage surgical specimens
  • Maintaining gross room inventory, supplies and general upkeep
  • In addition to the responsibilities describes above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Summit Pathology needs or requirements

Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • An earned or associate degree, in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology obtained from an accredited institution
  • Or, education/ training equivalent to the above that includes at least 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution. This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that includes six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology , and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination
  • Medium work - exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or 1 to 25 pounds of force frequently
  • involves constant standing, walking, sitting and movement use of hands
  • All work will be performed within the laboratory and in close proximity to electrical instruments, computers and other laboratory equipment and chemicals

Additional considerations will be given to those with:

  • An earned Bachelor of Science degree, with a human anatomy course, obtained from an accredited institution
  • Previous laboratory or data entry experience
