Summit Group is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our team as an Assistant Controller. The person in this role will report directly to the Corporate Controller to ensure accuracy of Summit Group's financial data and timely preparation of financial statements. The Assistant Controller will also be involved in preparing and maintaining finance and operating budgets as well as helping to build a team of accountants who will be responsible for the execution of financial close.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the financial close activities, including managing the close calendar, preparing, and reviewing work papers, journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Oversee cash and credit cards reconciliation.
  • Ensure balance sheet and P&L accounts for areas of responsibility are reconciled timely and reconciling items are resolved.
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to CFO, help develop and support strategic finance and operational initiatives.
  • Evaluate company's overall financial health by using key financial ratios and other indicators.
  • Prepare internal reports for leadership to support decision-making.
  • Create, update, and maintain financial models and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial results against budgets, forecasts, interpret trends and perform variance analysis to explain trends in financial data.
  • Manage and monitor all accounts and ledger to ensure GAAP compliance.
  • Collaborate with other departments like Sales, Operations and Technology to solve business operational issues.
  • Prepare client reporting and analysis.
  • Calculate and administer sales incentives. This includes maintaining commissions plans, generating reports, reconciling accounts, processing calculations and disbursing payments.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of five years accounting & finance experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required, MBA a plus.
  • CPA required.
  • NetSuite ERP experience required.
  • Manufacturing, Warehouse Distribution & Dropship Industry background preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (GAAP) and financial accounting standards.
  • Deep understanding of financial trends, strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel Skills and experienced in business intelligence tools.
  • Possesses exceptional organizational skills, an excellent time manager and effective in delegating tasks to a team of accounting professionals.
  • Skilled in preparing and maintaining budgets and forecasts.
  • Experienced in full cycle accounting.
  • Experienced in Financial Statement preparation (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Owner's Equity and Cashflow Statement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong understanding of NetSuite data and experienced in creating reports and saved searches.
