Summit County Public Health is looking for an Epidemiology Coordinator to work full-time (35 hours per week). The position coordinates and provides administrative and program support services for specialized programs and performs related duties as required or assigned under direction of the program supervisor.
This position works Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm. May require evening and weekend work.
- Initiates, designs and conducts epidemiologic assessment of public health data, with emphasis on community assessment, indicator trend data, and establishing a repository for on-going data surveillance and analysis.
- Converts complex data into easily understandable reports and presentations to assist with programmatic planning efforts, policy decisions, resource allocations, evidence-based practices, and health interventions.
- Provides quality control for data management for ongoing data tracking
- Proficient knowledge base in SAS and excel for data analysis
- Produces monthly, quarterly and annual data reports for grant funded and community based projects including but not limited to: Full Term First Birthday (FTFB), Ohio Equity Institute (OEI), Perinatal Periods of Risk (PPOR I & II), Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR), sleep related deaths, Child Fatality Review Board (CFRB), Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) and other family health related programming.
- Acquires data from local, state and federal sources.
- Performs data analysis and provides appropriate technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assists with the development of the Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan.
- Participates in research projects.
- Creates and maintains data and maps using a variety of software programming such as, ArcGIS, Microsoft PowerBI, SAS, excel, tableau, etc.
- Enters data and maintains databases, electronic files.
- Attends meetings and trainings related to grant goals, objectives and deliverables
- Research and establish best practices for the health of families with regards to policy, systems and environmental change in the sectors of social determinant of health
- Develops and facilitates workshops, meetings or conferences; coordinates logistics, scheduling and participant communications.
- Coordinates day-to-day activities for assigned program(s).
- Develops and monitors program budgets, goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with program requirements and regulations.
- Coordinates quality assurance projects, quality improvement and workflow analytics.
- Prepares reports, evaluations, proposals and other documents necessary for funding and successful operation of the program.
- Independently writes grant proposals when necessary.
- Represents the program and serves as a subject matter expert.
- Develops partnerships with stakeholders.
- Maintains positive community relations.
- Prepares outreach and promotional materials.
- Performs job duties under the regulations, policies and procedures set forth by Summit County Public Health and outside agencies such as the County Fiscal Officer, Ohio Department of Health, and state and federal government.
- Performs any other duties as required for the efficient operation of Summit County Public Health.
- Obliges, as set forth by the Summit County Public Health Emergency Operations Plan and within the scope of their employment, to be available for emergency service during routine and non-routine hours of operation including 24/7/365 availability. May be required to have medical clearance for respiratory protection or other personal protective equipment and may be exposed to inclement weather, extreme temperatures, unpleasant smells or odors, dust, dirt, fumes, airborne particles, pesticides, toxins or caustic chemicals.
- Confers with staff/partners and provides technical advice, problem-solving assistance, answers to questions regarding program goals and policy interpretation; refers to appropriate department person when unable to respond.
- Coordinates activities of program with inter-related activities of other programs, departments or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and program specifications.
- Maintains and regularly updates Standard Operating Procedures for all covered programs.
- Completes 100% of assigned reporting timely.
- Maintains all appropriate licensure and certification.
- Baccalaureate degree in public health, biostatistics or related field. Master's preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years public health experience.
- Grant writing, program management and evaluation experience.
- Experience in various epidemiological/data software (SAS, Excel, ArcGIS, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in the application of client-centered principles and use of strength-based approaches and communication techniques in working with families to meet client needs
- Current valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability and insurance coverage.
