Job Description

Calling all sharks - We are actively hiring sales people / project managers for our team. We sell full roofing, siding, and window projects primarily through insurance claims. We go into areas and snipe deals months or even up to 1-2 years after the storms hit, and we go into areas after fresh hail and wind storms as well. Homeowners get 1-2 years to file a claim after a storm hits their home. Summit Construction Group works and services the entire Minnesota metro area, primarily all surrounding suburbs. We do not travel out of state.

We're looking for young sharks, movers, shakers and hustlers! Looking for people with a sharp accumen, and can-do attitude, who are self motivated and disciplined and don't let things outside of their control stop them!

We are a newer company, both myself and business partner are in our early 30's, have been in the business for 10+ years, and made $300K+ per year as sales guys knocking doors, yes let me repeat KNOCKING DOORS. You hate knocking doors or you won't knock doors? No problem, this is not the job for you! I was a sales manager presiding over a team of 20+ sales guys at a similar company for the last 4 years and have trained many successful people in the industry. This industry breeds successful individuals and is a launchpad that can rocket your professional career. I am the owner of the business and I was out knocking doors today, knocking doors for $70K+ deals. Let me tell you - there is no more efficient way to gain business in this industry than door knocking - keep in mind we're not selling knives or vacuum cleaners over here. We're selling high revenue restoration projects. There aren't any catches - there isn't some buy in fee, no pyramid scam or call your family and friends list - we're selling free equity and home maintenance that the clients insurance company is typically paying for through the avenue of storm damage. Any homeowner with a minute or two to chat and some common sense is usually very open to the process. This might sound obnoxious, but I have no shame - a few years back I bought a gold Rolex Submariner wristwatch- income from door knocking paid for it, there I said it! You know what else I like? - Guitars, I like the old ones, they aren't cheap, door knocking has bought me some old guitars too. l don't love knocking doors, but I don't hate it, and more importantly I do like to work hard and make money. There is no special sauce or weird trick when we're pitching homeowners - the idea is to go out and target the right areas, look for old roofs, act like a normal person, talk to homeowners and help them understand the process and let the process sell itself. You don't have to be a construction expert, nor an insurance expert, we train as we go on all the basics of both.

You'll make commission's equivalent to or better than most real estate agents or loan officers. Our jobs typically run 40-50% profit, sales guys are paid 30-50% of the profit, all job files are open and transparent so sales guys know what the job cost to build and can ensure their commission is accurate. A few examples : On an average $20k roof sales guy will make $2-4k, on a larger $120K multi trade roofing siding window claim sale guy will make $12-25K commission on one deal. Working full time you can shoot to file 100 claims over the course of the season between April to October, 55% will get approved by insurance, roughly speaking you should build 50 jobs and depending on the size of the job you'll make $100-$300K+ for the season. For the record - we're not interested in hiring people that will take this half assed, it's not the culture we're building and frankly is not worth the return on our time.

We can train you in on how to sell and file claims/sign deals in 1-3 days, it'll take you a full season to become totally comfortable and familiar with the claims and construction process from start to finish. My first season in the business I was 24, I made $88K that summer, at the start of it I told myself I'd be happy if I made $20k, but I went all in and things turned out pretty good. Each year got better and easier. My business partner and fellow owner made roughly $150K his first year in the business, at the time he was 23 years old.

As the company grows over the next year or two we will have spots for sales persons to move up to a training role or management position.

Currently there are active hail storm dates from last year still in cities all over the metro, which includes hundreds of thousands of homes - Burnsville, Prior Lake, Inver Grove, Cottage Grove, Maple Grove, Ramsey, Elk River, Medina, Brooklyn Park, White Bear Lake, Shoreview, Andover, Coon Rapids, Blaine, Osseo, Plymouth, Orono, Savage, and many more cities. There is no shortage of projects to be had, not to mention new storms that will occur as we move into the summer.

The selling part isn't too tough as long as you can get out of your truck or car and talk to people, roughly speaking you can expect to file a claim per every 3-5 hours you spend in the field. What is hard about the job? Well.. the job is inconvenient in terms of clients calling at times you don't want them too, the job doesn't usually end at 5pm, you end up working a lot of times into the evening to meet clients and knock doors and follow up on leads and referrals and drop shingle and siding samples etc.., your phone always rings, you'll likely work Saturdays, heck sometimes insurance companies come out to assess damage on Sundays and you have to meet them, construction involves constant problem solving and putting out fires, while balancing your client and file load. Some insurance claims go super smooth and other times you'll have to figure out how to best and most tactfully navigate the claims process to beat the insurance companies. That being said anyone that works hard makes some serious money and gets the winter off. Success in this business is rampant, very common and widespread. But remember, anything good comes with hard work - they aren't handing out bags of cash on the corner lately anywhere I've seen. Well I guess they were giving out $1200 checks recently but when you make over $100k you don't get one - but you can feel good that you're tax contribution went to the others that did!

Job duties: Sales Guys scout and hunt areas to sell in, knock doors and talk to people, assist the client in filing a claim, meet the insurance company to assess damage and get the claim approved, take photos of the job and gather job scope and basic specs, select materials and colors with client, and submit the info to the office who will write and negotiate estimates, order materials, order dumpster & building permit and schedule crews, and assist in ongoing training, support, and guidance throughout all aspects of the process.

We have no problems advancing draws on commissions - we are happy to do this, and can set guys up on a monthly draw until their commissions turn over.

Basic Requirements:

-Must be willing to talk to people and knock doors

-Must have a vehicle and ladder - you don't need a truck, a car is fine and you can get a fold up or telescoping ladder into pretty much any vehicle out there.

-Must be willing to climb and walk on roofs (unless the roof is unreasonably steep)

-Must have basic computer skills, and smartphone skills, know how to send emails with attachments and documents and edit photos.

-You will be paid as a 1099 so at some point once you get going you will be required to set up an LLC and obtain general insurance, which isn't very expensive maybe $300-$400 per year
