Summit Community Care Clinic is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) whose mission is to provide exceptional, integrated, patient-centered care that is available to all. With facilities located in Summit, Lake, and Park Counties, the Care Clinic serves 7,500+ patients annually with more than 30,000 visits. The Care Clinic relies heavily on grants and fundraising to ensure that its services are available to all, regardless of ability to pay, given that many of patients are living with low-income levels and/or have no health insurance coverage. 

 

The Development Department oversees all grants, fundraising efforts, and events.  Revenues generated through this department account for about half of Care Clinic revenues, or more than $6 million annually. 

 

The Development Intern position was created to provide experience in the development sector for young professionals who are interested in supporting the work of the Care Clinic. Interns will be supervised by the Chief Strategy Officer and will work closely with the Development Director and the Community Outreach Specialist.  Hours and dates are flexible, with a minimum of 10 hours per week required. Intern positions are planned in 3-4 month increments but may be extended. The initial intern period will begin in June 2022. The Development Intern position will offer a great opportunity to gain experience in donor management, grant writing, and event management. 

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Database management using the Raiser’s Edge platform.
  2. Assisting with the triennial needs assessment.
  3. Collaboration with the Development Team on planning and implementation of the annual Soup for the Soul fundraising event, to be held March 26 at Keystone Resort.
  4. Securing donations from local businesses.
  5. Grant Writing.
  6. Website updates.
  7. Assisting with mailings, filing and special projects as needed.
  8. Developing newsletters and other publications for staff, patients and/or donors.

 

Additional Tasks/Responsibilities:

  1. Grants are a vital part of Care Clinic revenues and directly or indirectly support all positions. This role may have responsibilities that are closely associated with grant deliverables. Grants and grant responsibilities may change over time.
  2. This position has a set timeframe for the position. (See offer letter for specific length of internship.)
  3. Complete all required trainings as designated by HR and the position supervisor.
  4. Adhere to all policies within organization and those outlined within the SCCC Employee Handbook.
  5. Comply with all SCCC Vaccine Mandates.
  6. Willingness to travel and work at other SCCC locations as determined by the supervisor.
  7. Comply with all applicable Credentialing and Privileging requirements timely.
  8. Embrace the SCCC Mission and Vision and agree to work within the SCCC Guiding Principles and the principles set by the position supervisor.
  9. Must participate in quality assurance/ improvement activities when applicable.
