Job Description

 

Suitable Staffing is HIRING FOR LEADS within a Vitamin Manufaturer Company located in City of Norco.

 

SHIFT: 1st & 3rd

Pay rate: Depends on Experience & shift

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Including but not limited to: 

o Completed Shift Change hand downs with Lead Person being relieved.
o Assigns staff to operate and run equipment within their area(s). Has experience running 2
production areas.
o Responds to notifications about incoming product quality flagged for discrepancies against spec
sheet.
o Will be involved in discussions regarding off-spec products with Quality Control to
determine the cause for the product hold.
o Will determine when to get production back on schedule.
o Participates in the Quality Investigation to identify cause of discrepancies.
o Performs mid-level troubleshooting for equipment and other related functions (mechanical or
technical) of the equipment.
o Collaborates with Quality Control on periodic in-process line checks.
o In Pack Out – Tracks production data including: pallets per hour, incoming materials
(quantity produced, lot numbers, material usage, etc.), to feed into Production Report(s).
o May designate these duties to the appropriate personnel.
o Ensures that the data tracked is accurate.
o Oversees and monitors activities by L4 & L5 Sr. Production Operators in the assigned functions
such as Pack Out, Batching or Kitchen for pace, accuracy and quality. Activities can include:

 Ensuring label placement on bottles

 Correct label on Master Case
 Ensure case count and pallet count
 Verifying correct lot numbers for materials used, including correct batch
information.
 Verifying bottles have the correct information on lot and batch numbers.
 Machine speeds are correct
 Monitor staffing levels assigned to prepping, catching, operators and cookers.
 Maintains line flow by monitoring all ingredients are prepped and ready to go at
the indicated timing based on the recipe.


o Assigns product transfers to operator staff based on break schedule to cover any gaps. May
provide training for junior operators in the proper steps to transfer product, as needed.
o Train in the process of overseeing the use of HMI control panel by less experienced
operators to control speed, strokes, weight of gummies to ensure adherence to spec.
o Train in the process of overseeing use of HMI control panel by less
experienced operators to adjust vibrations, bottle height, weight, speed for labeling, sealing
according to specs.
o Receives regular communication from Sr. Operators or L1 Production Leads regarding any
production disruptions or delays that could impact shift production targets. They may:
o Perform troubleshooting for equipment malfunction as needed.
o Notifies Maintenance, Quality Control or Supervisor for their assigned area depending on
the situation.
o Completes all pertinent Discard Paperwork for any out of spec or waste product
for management’s & QC sign off as necessary.
o May train other Leads on the proper completing of this paperwork.
o Oversees paperwork for accuracy of counts and information.
o Oversees disassembly and re-assembling of equipment for sanitation process, product change or
repair. May need to perform disassembly and re-assembly as needed.
o Oversee light or full sanitation of molds/hoppers and other equipment as needed.
May conduct or assign the training of less experienced operators on these processes.
o Oversees light or full sanitation of machine parts, conveyor belts and
other essential components of the equipment. May conduct or assign the training of less
experienced operators on these processes.
o Maintains line clean & organized during production cycle.
o May have to cover breaks for other operators or leads as assigned.  

 

SAFETY & QUALITY REQUIREMENTS: 
o Enforces and directs all production staff under its work directions perform functions ensuring food
safety, quality standards, and compliance to SOPs and applicable regulations.
o Must develop a thorough understanding of the quality and food safety requirements in
production operations.
o For each area of production ensures that training has been successfully completed by operators
and other staff, must have thorough knowledge of the manufacturing processes, such that you
can operate the equipment and processes and train less skilled personnel.
o Communicate issues, concerns, process deviations and related to supervisor upon identification.
o Knowledge of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use. Enforces PPE rules with staff.
o With Food Safety and Quality as a priority, execute the manufacturing operations in a manner
that achieves the production schedule and best serves our customers.
o Support and maximize operational up-time on the factory floor.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
o Facility equipment can be dangerous and have risk associated with but not limited to:
o High Heat/Temperature
o Pressure
o Chemical handling, exposure and related risks
o Pinch Points and Sharps
o Bump/Tripping hazards
o Factory Operations could require extended work hours and possible work on weekends
o General: Exposure to potentially hot, wet, and powdery working conditions in cooking rooms.
Exposure to noise from equipment in operation in the assigned area. Exposure to pollutants or
allergens which can adversely affect the skin and/or the respiratory system such as gases, smoke,
odors, mists, fumes, dust, chemicals, oils or solvents, exposure to hazardous working conditions
including moving machinery, and/or electricity.
o The job requires the use of protective equipment such as aprons, sleeves, gloves, hair and beard
nets, smocks, safety glasses and steel toe/slip resistant shoes.
