Job Description

As a Diesel Mechanic at Sugar Creek Transportation, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing maintenance, repair, and performance optimization of our truck fleet. You will work closely with our operations team and fellow mechanics to maintain a safe and efficient fleet that meets our high standards. Job Responsibilities

  • Encourage and facilitate preventive maintenance work such as oil changes, air conditioning service, flushing, brake replacement, tire rotation, and more
  • Identify and address mechanical problems and malfunction codes found in the vehicle's electrical system, mechanical systems, and electronic systems
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping for vehicle repairs, maintenance, and service history

Compensation:

$25 - $35 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Remedy mechanical problems and malfunction codes that are identified in the vehicle's electrical system, mechanical systems, and electronic systems
  • Work with auto mechanic team members to determine vehicle problems and solutions
  • Preparing estimates, timelines, and other necessary documents for auto repairs
  • Inspect, test drive, and perform diagnostic tests to determine vehicle problems, parts needed for repairs, and necessary work
  • Encourage and facilitate preventive maintenance work such as oil changes, air conditioning service, flushing, brake replacement, tire rotation, and more

  • Diagnose issues with semi-tractors using a computer and performing PM services and minor repairs to our mostly Detroit engine fleet
  • Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty or worn-out parts, such as brakes, transmissions, engines, and cooling systems.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve complex mechanical problems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the truck fleet.
  • Collaborate with other mechanics and team members to efficiently complete repair jobs.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in diesel truck maintenance.

Qualifications:
  • Experience and manual dexterity using hand tools and other equipment is needed
  • Preferred education is an associate’s degree from a technical school or relevant automotive program and/or ASE certification
  • A valid driver’s license is necessary
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent necessary
  • Excellent work ethic, listening, problem-solving, and communication skills are desired
