GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Works under general supervision of the CEO, COO, or counselor of higher rank. Provides professional level counseling work in treatment of residents and provides referral and follow-up services. Compiles case histories, evaluates client needs, and presents findings to treatment team. Attends or participates in seminars and community group.
SPECIFIC AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Provides role model for residents.
- Conducts intake assessment and establishes a treatment plan with new residents.
- Interviews and counsels as required and as needed.
- Gives group classes and lectures as outlined by the COO.
- Communicates with residents, exploring problems and answering questions when necessary.
- Teaches target group specific alcoholism and drug addiction subject matter using handouts or visual aids. Inform resident of program related concerns in order to provide specific information to group.
- Record keeping, individual case information (observations, case narratives, etc.), updating case file, providing case status information (opened, closed, transferred, etc) in order to provide record of services.
- Confers with supervisors in staff meetings, providing and/or receiving information as required for understanding, in order to reach consensual decision regarding alcoholism/drug addiction residential services.
- Confers with representatives from other treatment agencies on specific cases, or specific resident groups, corresponding when appropriate, reaching mutual agreement on details of services (case management and action) and individual responsibilities, vocational attitudes, general orientation programs, etc.
- Educate small resident groups in daily living responsibilities, vocational attitudes, general orientation programs, etc.
- Participate in staff conferences.
- Conduct pre-authorizations and re-authorizations for new clients using insurance
- Rotate on call phones with other staff members for clinical questions and emergency questions after hours

- Master’s degree in social work or counseling required.
