About this position
This position involves wearing two different hats, Art Director and Post Production Supervisor. This is an on-site position (Berkeley) and while occasionally work can be done from home, this is primarily a position where you need to be at the Studio so please only apply if you live in the bay area or are planning to relocate.
Responsibilities + Duties
Work closely with the team of artists (Editors, animators, colorists) as well as taking direction from creative director
Work with Client to determine how to best represent a concept visually
Determine which art or other design elements to use for the project
Develop the overall look or style for the video (motion graphics only)
Design and create storyboards once the art style has been approved
Supervise, direct, review and approve designs, animations, and or composites developed by other artists
Present designs to clients for approval
In charge of overseeing all activities at all workstations (Editing, Animating, Coloring)
Oversee the final assembly with sound, music, graphics/composites, color corrected footage.
Quality Control for all renders before sending them to the Producer
Assist the producers during Pre-Production to make a more accurate budget estimate
Assist the director for video shots that require compositing + visual effects
Set up a VFX/MGFX shot list and organize project files + folders while assigning each shot to each artist that is on the project.
Review dailies, rendered from each artist and provide feedback.
Create and manage all final deliverable formats per client's request
Jump into any project (After effects, Premiere, Davinci Resolve) at any given time to make quick changes or re-renders
Manage projects on Frame.io (Limited to 100GB total) once projects are completed, they must be taken down.
Manage archival library: Maintain operating space (of the shared volume) at no less than 20% of capacity.
Manage Post Production Internship program: This includes hiring, mentoring, and providing a curriculum for the interns to learn about Post Production.
Manage EMAIL users + accounts (google suites)
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in media arts and animation, graphic design and/or a related field
3-5+ years' experience with motion graphics.
Strong knowledge of the workflows for Motion Graphics, Editing, Coloring, and Sound.
Strong foundational knowledge of layout, color, typography, and timing. Attention to detail and the ability to ensure consistent brand quality and visual language in compliance with our client's style guides and standards high level of knowledge of the
Strong knowledge of Post Production related Software, including Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Cinema 4D and Davinci Resolve
Video Project Management experience using various software (Frame.io, Basecamp, Slack, Google Suite)
Diagnose and troubleshoot any issues with workstations. Also the ability to resolve issues either through 3rd party means or by oneself
Independent, strategic, and creative thinker who is a strong team player and willing to take on additional responsibilities as necessary
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail, project organization, and artistic vision.
