Structural Metal Fabricators, Inc. is a leading supplier of truck equipment and field services. We are currently seeking an experienced fabricator to join our growing full time, day shift team.
Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of welding and fabrication theory, and the set-up and safe operation of all SMF welding and fabrication equipment including the following: Shears, press brakes, rolls, saws, ironworkers, drills, cutting torches and welders. Welds should be aesthetically pleasing with a minimum of grinding.
The ability to layout, cut, form, fit, weld and install assemblies made from a variety of materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.) when provided with blueprints, samples or verbal instructions.
Good mathematical skills and the ability to create basic sketches with a knowledge of drafting principals
Good general mechanical aptitude, including the skill to use basic hand and measuring tools (which the employee is expected to supply), and to safely operate forklifts, and overhead cranes.
The ability to read and interpret drawing, specifications and manuals and competently inspect all products manufactured.
The employee will be required to fabricate equipment and components primarily in the SMF shop, but at times also in the field, in a timely and efficient manner. Experienced employees should be capable of handling advanced projects. SMF employees are expected to perform any job assigned to them by their supervisor to the best of their ability.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Motivated, punctual and have good work ethic, such as reliability and dependability.
Knowledge of assembly and manufacturing of utility & truck mounted equipment a plus!
Minimum Physical Requirements:
The employee needs to be able to lift loads of up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
The employee needs the physical strength, agility, and balance to climb into, on top of, and under the project as necessary. Climbing a ladder may be required at times.
The employee needs to be able to work in the standing, crouching, or kneeling position for extended periods of time.
