Job Description

STi has been successfully partnering with the Federal government since 1985 and needs to expand our proposal team. We are seeking a Proposal Writer with excellent research skills and the ability to write persuasively and articulately; these are essential skills for success in this position. The main job duties involve researching, writing, and organizing ideas. Additional duties may include reviewing resumes for proposal, creating strategies, working with graphic designers, and presenting proposals. She or he must handle multiple revisions, edit and re-edit proposal sections as needed, and ensure that proposals maintain a consistent tone. The individual will study SSN/RFI/RFP/RFQ to determine the information needed for specific responses, conduct interviews with technical subject matter experts, attend meetings, and gather source information for which will be used to create response content. They might also create project schedules and deadlines, coordinate responsibilities, and prepare presentations

Position can be remote but hired candidate must be willing and able to work in the local office if needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Apply extensive knowledge of industry best practices to ensure proposals conform to a higher-than-the-norm standard of quality
  • Determine proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying SSN, RFI, RFQ, RFPs, and attending strategy meetings
  • Write clear, compliant text to meet SSN, RFQ, RFP, or RFI requirements
  • Coordinate requirements with contributors, and provide proposal status information in review meetings; translate solutions into effective business proposals
  • Rewrite sections to change unclear or non-compliant text into readable and grammatically correct English; edit content for clarification and consistency
  • Maintaining proposal support databases
  • Obtain approvals by reviewing proposal with key providers and project managers
  • Meet internal and proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates that are consistently met for information gathering, writing, review, and approval
  • Understand company service offerings, experience, and capabilities
  • Employ interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills in collaboration with diverse groups

Required Skills:

  • Advanced MS Word and Adobe skills & proficient in MS Office
  • Experience with Federal Government contracting in the Military (DOD) field and developing content for all volumes of typical federal proposals
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into easy-to-understand text
  • Can estimate time for proposal deliverables and adhere to schedules
  • Understands how to communicate difficult or sensitive information tactfully
  • Understand proposal databases
  • Required experience
  • > 7 years of solid experience in proposal writing of government proposals
  • Demonstrated experience of 2 years (of the 5 total years of experience) using the Shipley Proposal Method (REQUIRED)
  • Experience in all phases of government proposal development and production, and all response volumes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Mastery of English grammar, mechanics, and usage
  • Expert/Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat, Power Point, Visio, etc.)

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
