Job Description

The Director of Finance and Accounting is accountable for the accounting and financial operations of Strategic Resolution Experts (SRE). The Director of Finance and Accounting will serve as an expert across SRE's corporate operations, with a focus on accounting and fiscal management. Duties associated with this role may include, but are not limited to:

•Extensive use of PROCAS Accounting, Timekeeping, and Expense Reporting Software for Government Contractors and Excel for all functions within the Accounting and Finance Department
•Directs the management of the monthly closing of the financial systems, recording of accruals and reserves as appropriate, ensuring that all activities are executed in a timely manner and in accordance with associated accounting policies, procedures, and guidelines.
•Directs the required analysis to ensure complete and accurate monthly financial statements. Directs and coordinates the successful completion of external audits.
•Orchestrates the preparation and presentation of the analysis of the monthly financial results, with emphasis on key performance indicators and actual versus plan results for presentation to Executive management.
•Directs the needed research and analysis in response to special projects and ad-hoc requests related to the organization's financial performance, including analysis of individual company results, product segment income, and care results and trends. Communicates findings to management through written and oral presentations.
•Continual monitoring and assessment of the analytical tools and reports utilized with a focus on systems and process enhancements supporting financial management of the company. Directs the investigation of any unusual trends or potential issues to assure data integrity and identify business issues, as appropriate.
•Coordinates the development and implementation of internal accounting controls. Establishes, organizes, and communicates accounting and fiscal control policies and procedures. Ensures that accounting and fiscal processes and operational functions are designed effectively to meet standard internal controls and with contractual requirements and Government regulations.
•Directs and manages departmental staff through goal setting, guidance, support, coaching, and feedback consistent with corporate HR policies and practices. Prioritizes and assigns goals and projects; resolves employee issues and provides developmental opportunities.
•Actively manages general and property accounting through month-end and year-end close.
•Assists with cost accounting, budgetary / forecast development, internal controls, and additional internal strategic financial analysis.
•Appraises operating results in terms of cost, budgets, operating policies, trends, and increased profit opportunities.
•Identifies process and procedural improvements in financial processes to allow efficient and timely recording of key information and supplemental data.
•Conducts monthly budget-to-actual reviews with budget owners, reviewing variances and determining root cause of any overage / underage.
•Oversees the Staff Cost Accountant, Government Contracts in accurate execution of their responsibilities.


•Knowledge of PROCAS Accounting, Timekeeping, and Expense Reporting for Government Contractors is a plus.
•Knowledge of timekeeping and expense reporting, accounting and financial analysis, and project management.
•Knowledge of accounting principles.
•Knowledge of defense contracting and documentation requirements (DCAA, FAR, DFARS)
•Knowledge of research techniques used in collecting, tabulating, evaluating, and presenting data.
•Knowledge of word processing, database, spreadsheet, and accounting software applications.
•Skill in, and advanced expertise, with Microsoft Office.
•Skill in creating and improving processes.
•Skill in project reporting on various contract types (Fixed Price, Time & Material, Cost Plus).
•Skill in defining problems, conducting research, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and formulating recommendations.
•Ability to operate a personal computer.
•Ability to use automated financial software, electronic timekeeping and project planning software and database analytics tools.
•Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
•Ability to take initiative and work independently.
•Ability to be well-organized and self-directed.
•Ability to apply and demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills.
•Ability to provide guidance and accurate information.
•Ability to develop and deliver presentations, special studies, and project reports.
•Ability to maintain a harmonious and effective working relationship with SRE employees and federal contracting industry staff.
•Ability to work well with groups and executive-level decision-makers within the federal contracting industry.
•Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally, including making presentations to C-level executives.
•Ability to uphold high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business, or relevant field.

Experience: Eight (8) years of professional experience in the areas of accounting, finance, auditing, or business operations. Two (2) years supervising or managing professional staff.

Must be US Citizen and Clearable
