Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Public Safety Telecommunicator performs effective and responsive telecommunications work in the receiving and transmission of 9-1-1 telephone and radio emergency communications for Stone County Sheriff’s Office, Kimberling City Police Department, Branson West Police Department, Crane Police Department, Galena Police Department, Indian Point Police Department and Reeds Springs Police Department. SCES dispatch for Southern Stone county Fire Department, Central Crossing Fire Department, Highlandville Fire Department, Crane Fire Department, Hurley Fire Department, and Northern Stone Northeast Barry County Fire Department.  We also dispatch for both EMS providers Mercy and Cox.  This position is responsible for collecting and evaluating information to determine jurisdiction, equipment and personnel to be dispatched and utilizes a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.

Work is performed in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Instructions will be received orally and/or in writing from the Shift Dispatch/Communications Supervisor and/or Deputy Director or Director.

Closing Date: Priority consideration given to applications received by May 28, 2021.

Work Hours: This position will require shift work as it is necessary to have operations 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Shift bids are made twice a year when possible.

COMPETITIVE PAY Starting pay is $14.75 an hour to $20.00 commensurate with experience and level of duties. Shift differential pay up to $1.00 per hour. Opportunity for annual increases Excellent growth opportunities for fully engaged employees Non-Exempt - overtime eligible.

Paid Vacation 1-2 years receive 40 hours, 2-4 years 80 hours, 5-10 years 120 hours, 10-15 years 160 hours, 15+ years 200 hours.

96 hours of sick time per year with a maximum balance of 380 hours. 12 paid Holidays per year. Retirement LAGERS pension with five-year vesting period

Minimum Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must be able to obtain MULES certification. EMD certification within one year.  Must be able to attend occasional required off-site training. No felony convictions. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation drug and alcohol screenings. Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision. Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license. High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
