Established shop looking for an individual to be responsible for the management of the Diesel Mechanic team, organize their daily work schedule, and be the primary point of contact with customers. This position requires a positive attitude and the willingness to go above and beyond to meet customer needs, help shape and train the mechanic team, and work with management to stabilize and grow the business.
This individual will spend approximately 50% of their time on the floor and 50% of their time on the desk talking with customers and performing the required administrative functions. This position is ideal for the mid-career diesel technician who is ready to expand their opportunities and gain additional experience off the floor and into management.
Directly schedule work for and supervise Diesel Mechanics.
Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer software
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with DOT Regulations and all internal policies.
Ensure that all PM's are performed in a timely fashion and recorded accurately
Handle unit breakdown calls and communicate with vendors and customers
Monitor labor efficiencies of Diesel Mechanics.
This position will ensure high quality standards with regards to vehicle maintenance and repairs at the lowest achievable cost while protecting and maintaining company assets.
Management and training of the fleet technicians: vehicle maintenance, internal customer relations, management of fleet vendors, and fleet related record keeping and invoice processing.
High School Diploma required
Must have a Class A CDL license or be willing to obtain it within 6 months of hire
State Inspection Certificate
A minimum of 5 years in diesel maintenance and at least 3 years in supervision
Must have familiarity with DOT regulations for Commercial Vehicles,
Must have strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of vehicle systems, components and design characteristics.
Must possess excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills, as well as have the ability to influence and make decisions by applying independent judgment.
Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening required by DOT
